2.2.2 ALPHA release (windows only!) Sound patch

Post by Buginator »

I will not be around for a few weeks, so I made a quick build to test the latest sound code.

Get the file here:
test over

It is just r7924 of the 2.2 branch, + this patch: http://developer.wz2100.net/attachment/ ... SM2a.patch

That is the only thing different.

I need to know about sound issues, and how much better it is that the older code.

In bug reports, make SURE you specify this version: "warzone2100-Alpha-SoundFix-2.2only"

This is *only* the .exe, you need to replace the current .exe from 2.2.1!

Thanks for testing!

Test over, will be in 2.2.2 shortly.
and it ends here.

No issues here! Tested on NTW map 1, I had 9 Heavy Cannons and several Assault Guns firing all at the same time, this used to cause a problem. Flawless! (In that instance, at least ;) )

It seems as though this has dramatically improved game performance!

I usually have problems in T3 8 player around midgame - especially VTOL' sound used to "hang".

But yesterday I succesfully completed at large map (BIG one) game which always have chrashed !
Great work !

I don't seem to be hearing the melodious pumping sound of the oil derricks. :-S

O_o O_O O_o

I can't believe you just said that. That has to be the #1 most annoying sound there is...
and it ends here.

So did you eliminate the oil derrick sound? (It isn't that bad.) ;)

Nope.
I didn't remove any sounds. That bloody awful noise is still there.

I even added a few screams in 2.2.3, and it has better sound code as well (true 3D sound).
and it ends here.

Yes, and I noticed that I could still hear the derricks :gonk: , but only if I zoomed in really far and turned the volume WAY, WAY up.
