New Terrain Renderer

Post by mcsterls »

I've always been a huge fan or Warzone 2100, I've bought it twice due to loosing disc 1 when I moved 10 years ago...and it almost caused a major problem with my college education as I couldn't stop playing to study. I've looked at this page many time over the years, watching the progress, but haven't played it in years because this game gives me headaches from eyestrain. I just finished reading about the new renderer by Gerard_. Is this renderer incorporated into the new version 2.2.1 or do I need to install that version then compile the renderer separate. If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

afaik you need to d/l & compile the trunk/dev version...
could be wrong.

The new terrain renderer is in the development branch, also known as 'trunk'. It *is* quite spectacular.

To get it, you need to download and compile the source yourself or sweet-talk someone into doing it for you. Information is on the Development tab. The difficulty of doing this depends on how familiar you are with installing and building software on your platform.

Question: are you sure you want to do this knowing how addictive the game is *without* the additional eye-candy?

Yeah, I want the eye candy before starting this one again. I'll look at it tonight, I should be okay on compiling the code.

Thanks!

i'm probably doing it wrong; but my trunk version has nothing but white terrain, and a crap framerate too.
