it is a complete game - except for the fmv/cutscenes and music - this is the reason it downloaded so quickly.

the fmv/cutscenes and music were NOT released to the GPL license.  if you read through all the threads of this forum you will understand.

if your having problems understanding due to a language difference... no problem - just ask your question and i will respond  - if i dont have an answer - someone else will.

ok? ;D

Seems strange I can download from the official site a full CD 1 which will give me the movies and not the music, or this setup, which will give me the music and not the movies, but it seems no info or way to have the movies AND the music - which in effect means there is no full game out there either the original or this setup, unless you buy the game off ebay or something.

I think your a bit confused.
First off, what makes you think that is the 'official' site?
2nd, just because they offer it, doesn't mean it is sanctioned by the (c) holders.
3rd, this setup does NOT give *either* the FMVs or the music for the reasons stated by lav_coyote25.  He even has the text colored, so you can see it better. :P
4th, there IS a way to get what you want, but you MUST own the game.  Converting the FMVs to another format is trivial & has been done.  Same goes for the music.  No, the FMVs/music are *not* ever going to appear on these forums, until they get the OK from the (c) holder.
5th, for this version, we are stuck in a loop, they don't want to release the playback code, until they have  new videos to playback.  People don't make new videos (to replace the (c) ones), since we don't have playback code (yet).  There is a patch in the tracker to fix the missing playback code though.

I think that about covers it. :)
and it ends here.

Well, after the posting of my message, I carried on trying... I finally got both the music and movies playing by downloading the version from Underdogs, which is 96mb and then copying the 'sequences' folder from CD1 to the game folder. The Underdogs version, unlike others, has a separate 'setup' where you can choose Direct3D or Glide or 3DFX and also choose from 640,800 or 1024 resolutions without ever having to mess about with shortcuts.

But I must say, I cannot fault your answer to my initial post - didn't leave me any wiggle room at all - very impressed! :)

Which is why I said we need to have this info in the wiki.

As for the FMVs, if you have a addendum to:
1) These source and data files are provided as is with no guarantees.
2) No assistance or support will be offered or given.
3) Everything you will require to make a build of the game should be here. If it isn't, you'll have to improvise(*).
4) None of us here at Pivotal Games are in a position to be able to offer any help with making this work.
5) This source code is released under the terms of the GNU Public License.
Please be sure to read the entirety of this license but the summary is that you're free to do what you want
with the source subject to making the full source code freely available in the event of the distribution
of new binaries.
(*) Except FMV and music...
Then please fill us in where they posted/allowed this change, so we can get these things out!

Thanks!
and it ends here.

Well, the site I got the CD 1 from is here:

//Edit kamaze:

and the site  got the setup from was the regular Underdogs, that had the music.

So you will have to work out if the music and sound is now available, but to me it is! :)

I'm sorry that I had to remove the link.
The package which has been released is licensed under the GPL,
this doesn't automatically intends that the retail game is "free" as well.

So, we can't allow such links due to legal reasons.
However, people who want to find it, will be able to do so.
