nobody seems to care..

Post by AnDyRyuuJin »

so many 3d artists and etc... and no one is improoving the original structures...

why not make the original buildings to look a litle better so everybody can enjoy plaing insted of making new buildings just cuz you feel like

improve the grafix dammit :mad;

like the barrel for weapons they have 4 sides look like crap make 8 sides so it will look better, the buildings and units look like cardbord boxes do something about them...

do something ....

read some more threads damn it :mad; ... :3

all those things are being worked on, and considering all the devs & artists here are doing this voluntarily as a hobby they are improving the game at a steady pace.
the game engine is afaik being worked on to be stable & more efficient with higher poly counts/better visuals, and there are multiple gfx mods to choose from, so you could try those out :cool:

you could always get blender & do some more redesigning yourself :3
thing is you need to make them fit with the warzone ethetic/style so people will like them & they arent out of odds with the invironment.
at the very least, this makes texturing difficult.

Me and several other peaple are trying to improve the existing textures some. why dont you help? I'm not an artist but I still can help some.
In general, if you see glowing, pulsating things in the game, you should click on them.

Most of that stuff is in the showcase section I think, but look around and you'll see elio's awesome HQ and research center, and there are other's who have made new factory models etc.

and this is supposed to be a fortress

Image

i could go on like this for hours but you get the picture

as a big fan of warzone 2100 [played it from when it came out (the demo)] i whant the original buildings and units but looking better not to invent new units and buildings and put them in the original game if you want that make a mod dammit everybody is making their own warzone..... :stressed: :stressed: :stressed: :mad; :mad; :mad;

i thing the first 3 structures are quite good myself, i dont know what stage in development they are at, they look quite usable.
and they do look like militaristic concrete buildings.

the reason structs dont look as they do in the fmv is a combination of issues.
one is (afaik) a limitation in the game engine on poly counts among other things, which is beyond my understanding really.
another is in the system resources of the computers the game is played on.
another is that nobody has gone to the troubly of designing such an inefficient model.

at which point i say, feel free to chip in :3

and that fortress looks right out of warhammer imo lol

.

That Fortress is concept art designed by Pumpkin's Nick Cook circa 1996..... I believe the first WarHammer PC game was released in 2004.
Could be Nick played the table-top version board game which has been around since 1987 and was inspired - but I really have no idea what those
miniatures looked like in 1987.

On the subject of this topic: There is a world of difference between "work for pay" and "work as a hobby". For example: when your working for pay dealing with rude ingrates comes with the territory and you tolerate 'em for the sake of peace and a paycheck. When it comes to "work as a hobby" dealing with such is more like "frack you" and the toy pony you rode in on. Generally speaking the GPL is about doing whatever you feel like working on as long as you make public your changed source along with the changed binary for official distro channels... As long as you follow the licensing protocol you are free to do whatever you want and public acceptance or popularity is of optional importance really.

In short - people care they just care differently and who is "right" and who is "wrong" is not a useful PoV. What would be a useful metric in a game like this is how many fans are playing MP day to day, week to week and month to month. An other useful metric would be how active is modding and mapping. The first metric is currently in flux at the present level of development.. The second metric is very much applicable now, and contrary to this topic's heading, shows WZ 2100 to be moving in positive, promising and worthwhile directions.... And that last includes whatever you may choose to do.

Regards, whip :)
