I'm not sure if a moderator will move this thread or not, but it would be interesting to see some new weapons in the game. Please try to keep the weapon so that it's not overpowered or just for show. It has to have a practical use. Here are some ideas (constructive criticism is welcomed):
Name: Stiletto missile
Tier: 3
Weapon type: Direct fire
Damage: 400*3 (starting at 250*3)
ROF: 12 (starting at 6)
Range: Short (can't give an exact number)
Cost: Expensive, but since other weapons will likely tear down units before they reach it, not too expensive. Structures with this weapon are cheaper than units.
Suggested structures: Emplacement
Size: Small
Weight: 3000
Prerequisite: Advanced missile allocation System
Appearance: A small, dark-blue, cone-shaped weapon. Shoots similarly-colored rockets.
Name: Plasma Mortar (it's time to bring the Nexus weapon to the game)
Tier: 3
Weapon Type: Indirect fire
Damage: 400
ROF: 7 (starting at 4)
Range: Slightly shorter than Bombard
Cost: Moderately expensive (between Bombard and Howitzer)
Suggested Structures: Pit of course
Size: Same as original design
Weight: 10000
Prerequisite: Mortar fast loader (or the absolute last mortar upgrade)
Appearance: Same as original design
Name: Fusillade Artillery
Tier: 2
Weapon Type: Indirect fire
Damage: Starting at 50*8
ROF: Same as Mini-Pod Artillery
Range: Same as mortar
Cost: A bit more expensive than Pepperpot
Suggested Structures: Emplacement
Size: Small
Weight: 750
Prerequisite: One of the later mini-pod technologies
Appearance: A rectangular artillery weapon that has 8 holes in it.

Re: How about some new weapons?
everything is pretty much covered for weapons really.
giving all the current weaps their own niche seem daunting enough as is...
you want a possible way of changing the game mechanic... i guess doubling the cost & built times of the heavy tank bodies & bumping the medium bodies up 50% would do it.

You forgot damage type. Is it: anti-personnel, anti-tank, anti-stricture, artillery, flamer, or all-rounder?Arreon wrote:it would be interesting to see some new weapons in the game.
[suggestions]
You forgot damage class. Is it: kinetic, or thermal?
You forgot trajectory: Is it: direct, direct-homing, or indirect?
You forgot accuracy.
You forgot shots/salvo. I can assume 1, but confirming that would be nice.
Why can't you name an exact range? You can see reference weapon ranges at: http://guide.wz2100.net/new/w/
Also, don't give upgraded stats. Those depend purely on subclass. For example, Stiletto Missile sounds like it's a missile, so its max damage and ROF would be exactly 1.9x base damage and ROF.
But yeah, then there's the general problem of: Warzone's weapon tech is complex enough. We're thinking of maybe a T3 bunker buster, and a plasma mortar, but other than that, no, we're good.
This sounds like a flamer. We already have flamers. Unless you want this to be an all-rounder, in which case we already have plasma cannon. This weapon doesn't seem like it could fill any damage type niche.Arreon wrote:Name: Stiletto missile
Meh, I'm planning on adding in a Plasma Mortar, but not like this. Mortars should be T1 only (except incendiary, which is T2), so I'd probably rename it, too. "Plasma Launcher", probably, unless someone has better ideas. Subclass should either be bomb, flamer, or laser.Arreon wrote:Name: Plasma Mortar
That's the niche occupied by the new Angel Missile. You should take a look: http://guide.wz2100.net/new/w/angelmissileArreon wrote:Name: Fusillade Artillery

I do agree that the tech-tree is already quite complicated and that making it more complicated could serve as even more of a barrier-of-entry to newcomers.
