Another noob question: the "Forward Base" mission

Post by Hidalgo »

Thanks for a nice game! Been enjoying it for the last few days.

I need help with the campaign mission where you have to build a new base on the plateau. I built a command relay center, a factory, a science facility, a power generator and a repair facility there, as well as several towers and bunkers, but the mission isn't complete (and it's failed when time expires). What exactly should the new base have?

P.S. The spot for the new base marked with a green light is by a hillside. I made two attempts to build the base: first up on the hill, then down by it. The mission wasn't complete in both cases.

Someone correct me, (again) do you have to kill all Paradigm tanks and cyborgs? :mad;

Yes: That mission is the one where they counter attack. The Campaign guide on the website claims that you need to hold off at least three waves of Paradigm forces, although two transports landed on the LZ just south of the forward base; I wiped out both waves and the mission ended, took me 5 minutes.

How odd, I find usually in the two missions where the Paradigm invades your zones that it's purely random how quickly you can find and eliminate them, or how much they set at you.

Thanks for help, it really was about defeating enemy groups. This time I made sure I eliminate the descents, and now the mission's complete.

Although this wasn't the problem here, I also managed to lose that mission. I had already built the forward base in the previous mission and so I destroyed incoming force after incoming force until time was up and I lost. When I tried again, I had to tear down one of the buildings there and re-erect it in order to win.

Yes you do and, as I recall, the NP loves to single out one unit to send to one corner of the map to hide untill the timer runs out. So when a level dont end, look in all the little out of the way places that a lone unit could hide in and start in the far south east corner but also check the hole eastern edge of the map. There are lots of places for a hold-out to hide.

I notice that they don't stray from the LZ's too far. Just investigate those and you should be fine. The eastern edge is indeed a nice place to hide, especially the bottom right corner.
