Can't host in lobby

Post by alienkid10 »

I use WinXP SP3 and Windows Firewall on WF I have exceptions for ports(TCP) 2100, 9990, and 9999 all are open and scope set for anyone, I also have one for Warzone2100.exe same the the others. I still get the message: "Error while registering game with the lobby server: Is port 2100 open?" I am behind a router but I can't get into change anything because dad's the admin and I don't know the pass. Any help?

EDIT: I have a Westell VersaLink 327W router.

I now get a message saying welcome to the lobby but the guy I was testing with couldn't see it. So it appears as though I can connect but no one(?) sees it.

Oh, you again^^.
Well, I could see you in the lobby and I could connect to you. So I suppose that that person you were waiting for made a mistake

Um, well, if you're behind a router you can't configure, you can't host. All games are like that...

Only thing you can do is get others to host, convince your dad to let you configure the router to port forward, or use Hamachi.

You just said you were getting a "Welcome to the lobby" message - that doesn't necessarily mean you successfully port forwarded. I've gotten that message while fully behind a router.

Make sure you're port forwarding all the relevant ports. I believe it's 2100 and 9997 for 2.2+, and 9999 and 9998 for 2.1.

Lobbybot only does 2.1.x games IIRC. At least for now, unless it was change recently...
and it ends here.

ok then so people can see me... Thanks.

Now I need to find a way to let my brother host from his computer if he wants to also.
Look at the attached picture, that's why I can't seem to let him host.

This is why i hate Zyxel(CRAPPY) routers :scream:

Even tho' you do all normal, it locks the ports again. Unless its not Automatik opening O_o (Stuff that i find very complicatet)

Figured I would just post here instead of start a new thread. I have opened all ports I.E 2100,9990,9999,9998,9997, and it still says system error, cant register game to lobby, are you sure port 2100 is opened? Have opened with router, have opened with firewall, and still no go. Does anyone have any idea what it could be wrong?

Thanks in Advance!

If you are on the same LAN, then you only have 1 external IP.
and it ends here.

What kind of connection you got?

Try hosting again, and doing --debug net (on the command line /shorcut), and post the logs.
and it ends here.

I have Cable internet. New to the whole thing, Dad loves this game, only game he will do online and since he lives so far away trying to get this working for him, so a noobie to any of this. I tried typing /shortcut in the command in game and it said cant do this cheat while in multiplayer. Typed /debug net as well, same response. Again, sorry, i dont mean to be so frustrating, so is there another command line to enter in, because i have totally missed it.

I meant you need to type warzone2100.exe --debug net on the command line (start menu->run->cmd.exe then CD to wherever warzone2100.exe is), or you modify your shorcut icon and edit that to include --debug net at the end of whatever is there now.

Then in that directory, it will have a file called stderr.txt. Attach that here.
and it ends here.
