Multiplayer connection. I'm sure you're sick of hearing it.

Post by Anomymous »

See, I love this game, and am a huge fan of the project here, so I shared it with a friend and got him interested. Now I want to connect to him, but I'm like a toddler with a rattle when it comes to computers. I can't connect to him.

I've got a Windows Vista with a wireless router, while he has Windows XP with a modem.
I hear you need to open ports? I know nothing of these ports...I've tried opening them as exceptions on my Windows Firewall, but Port checks say they're closed. It's all too confusing, it makes my head boil!! :scream:

I'm probably gonna have to have my hand held through this process...I know nothing about any of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated...If there's any other info needed, I'll see what I can dig up...

http://portforward.com/ to configure your router.

I recommend using 2.2 RC1, in which case you would have to forward port 2100.

If he has a normal modem (not a router-modem), he doesn't have to mess with port forwarding.

Windows Firewall should pop up a warning when you try to host (alt+tab after you start hosting) after which you can allow Warzone to host. Alternatively, just turn off Windows Firewall for the duration of the game - XP and Vista should be able to survive a few hours with no firewall (but don't tell Microsoft I said that :P ).

You should not have to use Hamachi unless you don't have any access to your router.
