editworld reg values?
What do I set them to? Here's what it's asking for: project dir, dataset dir, height map dir, edge brush dir, tile type dir, and save final map dir.

Re: editworld reg values?
It's in the first picture of the compiled html help file %installdir%\Beta World Editor 32 bit -128 by128 -png Beta.chm. In that picture WZWorldEditor32-Debug is the install directory. There's a ton of useful information in there, which I suggest anyone who is going to try and make a map to scan through or at least check if (or when
) things go wrong. If you still can't work out what's going wrong then pm me and I'll try to help.

Re: editworld reg values?
So I got editworld running using this program called Wine (had to install some libraries to get it to run), and I have to open terminal and use the command "wine editworld32.exe" to launch it
When I use the ls command from that directory, I see "Beta World Editor 32 bit -128 by128 -png Beta.chm"
However, I cannot find any way to view this file yet - I will update if I am able to view it.
Until then, is there any website or tutorial explaining this?

Googling for
linux chm viewer
might provide some suggestions.

Re: editworld reg values?
Hmm, well, I set the right directories, I think but I am still having some issues related to running it on a mac - suffice to say the 32 bit freezes up.
I can get the 16 bit version to launch now, I go to new map, it asks me to specify a Data set and map size, then it says error reading IMD
*edit* I read the readme on the original WZ 2100 world editor:
*edit2*
I got out my old Install CD, and, using Wine and installing a bunch of Librarys, installed Warzone 2100 version 1.00

The world editor also works now!

I also know how to run my windows games on my Mac (assuming I can download all the libraries they require to run)
Intel Based Macs just moved up a notch for me.

Looks like I need to instal WZ in the same directory - I'm guessing 1.10 or earlier is needed?Run Setup.exe to install EditWorld on your computer. You will need a full installation of Warzone 2100 to use EditWorld. Please note that EditWorld loads Warzone 2100 game data, so you may have to change the destination directory from the default if you have installed Warzone 2100 in a non-standard directory.

Re: editworld reg values?
the original 16 bit editworld is not compatible with the new releases. it is using the .WDG format instead of the .WZ format. excellent to see you have the original running on a mac...

If you make maps with the 16bit EW you can make 'em compatible with the current WRP binary as was done
with the campaign maps and a slew of maps originally made for v.1.10. If I recall Rodzilla made a conversion
script. I never used it so I don't know exactly how it works and if you need to decompile the .Wdg with Bones0's
"WDG Explorer" proggy first.

Re: editworld reg values?
Arghh.... more issues to deal with, I noticed the .wdg thing.....
Are the .lnd files compatible?
Could I make a map in 16bit, e-mail the .lnd file to someone who then opens it with EditWorld32, and returns the .wz file to me?
I'm still trying to get the 32 bit version to work... but that is a post for the Wine/DarWine forums.

Re: editworld reg values?
I should mention that the 3d view window doesn't function for some reason - so I'm just using the top down 2-d Window to build the map, and painting with elevation - I expect the first iterations to likely have some really steep cliffs...
Nor do I know how much is an appropriate "randomize" value to give the terrain some noticeable variation, without making building 3x3 factories a problem, or affecting weapon Line of Sight

Re: editworld reg values?
Yes, I know.
As to moving the lines... yes I did that, I see a blank white square in the upper right, and the top down 2-d view in the lower right.
I think I've got 2GB of ram, it should be plenty for a 16 bit editor from 1998
