Txt editing help (Q's)
I want to modify most of the weapons to make use of salvos only.
This page says the fields and their positions, but in my weapons.txt the fields just dont match up to whats on that page. As a result i have no idea what to modify (without testing myself that is).
Plus i have no idea what weapons i am modifying in the first place because of the weird names...
I have attached my weapons.txt file for the heck of it... Also, i would like to know the best version of OS to get off the Linux download page. (preferably the best for wz)

Re: Txt editing help (Q's)
What do you mean by "doesn't match up"? I made that page into its present form, and afaik, the columns are all correct.

Re: Txt editing help (Q's)
Well... i guess the main problem is i can't understand anything because notepad displays it all bunched up with no spaces.
I will try wordpad.

Notepad only understands \r\n termined newlines, which are used exclusively by Windows. Please use a real text editor, such as notepad++ or notepad2, both of which understand UNIX style line endings.Raem_Lylar wrote:Well... i guess the main problem is i can't understand anything because notepad displays it all bunched up with no spaces.

Re: Txt editing help (Q's)
Wordpad is doing it correctly. But i was right, nothing matches up...
For Rocket-Pod the fields for longrange and shortrang have 960 and 640, the format the wiki says to use is numbers 1-10.
The firepause is also whacked out, 40 when it should be like 1.
Unless there is some measurement that i didn't know about then this just doesn't match. (like 960 being a distance measurement on tiles, which if tiles themselves were the measurement it would be like 6 or something)
I see! In the case of number of rounds/fire rate etc 100 as a time input would be 1 second correct? Zeros are just thrown on for more precise settings, yes?

Range is in #/180tiles and firepause is in #/10seconds. All of the info can be found here: http://developer.wz2100.net/wiki/TxtEditingRaem_Lylar wrote:Wordpad is doing it correctly. But i was right, nothing matches up...

Re: Txt editing help (Q's)
I know that, thats what i am complaining about, that page you linked to is wrong.
Okay, let me rephrase my problem... if i wanted the mini-rocket to take 10 seconds to reload instead of 6, what would i put in that field?
I noticed it doesn't make use of standard measurements of time, but of the games weird private measurements.
That's why i have no idea what i am doing... its not standard and i have to learn it.
EDIT: And i think i have learned it. it would be 300 for 10 seconds, 25 for 1 second, correct?

I'm afraid I'm not sure, in that case I would obviously double it. Sometimes it's good to just put in a number and see what it changes.Raem_Lylar wrote:Okay, let me rephrase my problem... if i wanted the mini-rocket to take 10 seconds to reload instead of 5, what would i put in that field?

Zarel might know though.

Re: Txt editing help (Q's)
Yeah, only Zarel can help me with this. Doubling doesn't work, by logic 150=5s 75=2.5s. But nope, 75 still equals 5s with the exception of being a little bit quicker about 4.5/4.8 seconds. That makes no logical sense... or mathematical sense.
Zarel, is their even a base? I mean how can 50=60 in the game? Its illogical! What equals 1 second? With that knowledge my problem should be sovled.
I solved my problem. However i now need to know, what is Rocket-IDF?

Ripple Rockets. Searching for the internal name in messages\strings\names.txt will help you tell what weapons and structures etc. are called in-game.Raem_Lylar wrote:I solved my problem. However i now need to know, what is Rocket-IDF?

No, it's not. You just can't read.Raem_Lylar wrote:I know that, thats what i am complaining about, that page you linked to is wrong.
The page itself says that the distance measurement is in 1/128 tiles. In other words, 128 = 1 tile. 960 = 7.5 tiles.Raem_Lylar wrote:For Rocket-Pod the fields for longrange and shortrang have 960 and 640, the format the wiki says to use is numbers 1-10.

You're looking at the wrong column. The firePause is 10 (As the same wiki link says, the units are in 1/10 seconds, meaning 10 = 1 second). 40% is its long-range accuracy.Raem_Lylar wrote:I see! Most time units are in 1/10 seconds, and most distance units are in 1/128 tiles.
Well, the minipod takes 1 second to reload, not 6. If you wanted it to take 10 seconds to reload, you'd put 100 in the firePause field. If you wanted it to take 23.4 seconds to reload, you'd put 234 in the firePause field.Raem_Lylar wrote:Okay, let me rephrase my problem... if i wanted the mini-rocket to take 10 seconds to reload instead of 6, what would i put in that field?
Seriously, the wiki has all this information. Did you even read it?

Re: Txt editing help (Q's)
Actually, what really confused me was, that when i tested my changes, rof upgrades interfered with my results.
I already figured out 10=1s:
