Instruction manual?

Post by BlueMaxima »

Has anyone ever thought of including an instruction manual with the game, rewritten for the Resurrection Project?

I'd be happy to! :D

I'm working on making Warzone Guide into a manual, but most of the "manual"-type pages are incomplete and hidden. Here are some of them:

I was actually thinking more of a full-scale manual, with what absolutely everything is, like one of those 100-page manuals they include with the latest Command and Conquer games.

Good start though.

Those old docs may be somewhat out of date, but I found them useful for getting to know the game.

I did use to love looking through the old docs. Still quite useful today, but with all the changes made to the game since the old 1.x patches, it's gonna be hard to find all the changes.

I'd be happy to do a manual for the Project, but I'd need all those changes in a list.

Judging from the contact info Zarel gave you, I'd say he's as serious as it gets :D

No wonder: if any person has the will to write a 100+ page manual for no pay in his/her own free time, for which he/she must first collect/sort/read through years worth of documentation, I think that any project developer will be happy to help out with some info & data ;) At least I would be in his place...

I'm serious. I've gotten very little progress done on Warzone Guide; having another writer would help immensely.

I do have most of the general knowledge about Warzone down. I just don't have time to actually write it down, take screenshots, etc etc. Progress on Warzone Guide is very slow (although you may have noticed lots of different improvements - just recently I added detailed splash damage and fire damage, SEO'd the titles, and reworked the CSS in preparation for larger links (currently used for, among other things, a bigger "Download" link for Rebalance).

OK, here's the first draft of the manual. It's about 20 pages. There's a lot to add, I know - just bear with me, every time I start up Warzone on my laptop now it bluescreens, and it never worked on this computer anyway.

I know I have to add the following:

-Units boarding transports
-Info on making skirmishes
-The Force Editor

And I would like some proofreading done as well, just so I haven't made any mistakes. Also, suggestions for the manual are welcome.

Sorry for the link to savefile.com - the inbuilt uploader isn't working for me (probably because I'm on dialup): http://www.savefile.com/files/2074456

I just skimmed through it, and it looked quite nice.

The force editor is gone, and doesn't need documenting anymore.
