Remember to put the libraries, like OpenAL32.dll into the drive, too. I believe it's normally somewhere in C:\Windows\System32\ or something.

I have tried with version 2.1.2 and it is not working.
The game is installed in USB on e:/Warzone 2100 folder.
I have copied into this folder the OpenAL32.dll & wrap_oal.dll (any other dll to be copied?).
System is Window XP.
I have tried by launching the Warzone2100.exe and also via a shortcut ("E:\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe" --window --configdir "E:\Warzone 2100" --datadir "E:\Warzone 2100") too with no results.
The game try to start after a while but is hanging ("no response" in the task-manager)

what am I doing wrong?
My Warzone 2100 mods:
Download DyDo-AI for Warzone skirmish/multiplayer games.
Download A2C-HM (Alpha 2 Campaign - Hard Mode).
Download A3C-HM (Alpha 3 Campaign - Hard Mode).

It works for me. Version 2.1.3 and 2.2beta.
Put OpenAL32.dll and wrap_oal.dll (no others needed) in gamedir (f.e. "e:\warzone\"), uninstall openal (if installed), and have fun.
I've tried that way and it works without any trouble... no command-line options needed. Warzone will save in %userprofile% .
Have a look in stderr.txt and post it here.

It would be handier if the pathes can be set in config-file.

you are right, it works for me too now. The only thing I have changed is the folder name (now E:\warzone). Possibly the issue is that I had not enough "patience". Before the game starts you have to wait at least one minute, in this time on the task manager the application is given as "not responding" but it is a temporary issue. Just wait and wait...the game starts.

You can edit the config file, or start the game with command line options to fix that. Use warzone2100.exe --help
and it ends here.

As Buginator points out, you can fix it using the config file. The good news is, I fixed this bug in 2.2; now you can't set your resolution lower than 640x400. :D
