yeah, the old warzone (before the new terrain renderer) worked fine. Suddenly whenever I try to start a skirmish game it crashes after the map loads and it goes to display the action.
Has the requirements changed? stderr.txt says something about my computer not supporting "texture rectangle extension". And being an old radeon IGP 320M it likely doesn't. But would that cause the crash?
the crash seems occur on atioglxx.dll
Running winxp
hp pavilion ze4145
512mb ram
radeon IGP 320M
mobile AMD athlon XP 1800+ (1.52ghz)
also the game runs fine on my desktop.

Wow, 6,727 crashes is a lot. I admire your persistence!
First thing to try is update your video driver.
2nd is buy a $20 Nvidia card.
Your problem is poor OpenGL support.the crash seems occur on atioglxx.dll

Re: 6727 crashes after loading map
the driver I have is the latest.
and I can't buy a new card for this laptop, it's built in with no slot to addon.
the game worked fine on it before. What oddball function was added to kill off half of warzones future support base?

Re: 6727 crashes after loading map
The 'oddball function' is the texture rectangle extension that some quick googling suggests was added to OpenGL back in 2004. I suspect this is used in WZ to support the Full Motion Video (FMV) from the original game or perhaps the sexy new terrain textures. But someone who actually knows could provide better info. What oddball function was added to kill off half of warzones future support base?
As you note, the game runs fine on your desktop machine. The sad fact is that some computers which were designed for web surfing and email lack the resources ( video card + driver ) to run OpenGL games. Laptops and machines with on-board graphics tend to fall into this category. The problem is prevalent with ATI cards/chipsets since ATI has made a marketing decision to focus on DirectX and neglect OpenGL.
You *may* be able to get WZ running on your laptop by fiddling with WZ options like texture size and resolution and your system display settings.

Re: 6727 crashes after loading map
IIRC, the texture rectangle extension is used for full motion video only. In any case, if it is not supported, some features will not be supported - but the game should not crash. It is probably something else.
