I have troubles to reach the missions in time.
I bought this game long ago for the ps1.
A few days ago I found out that the PC version is under GNU now (thx for that nice move).
I noticed some differences between the pc and the Playstation 1 Version.
The "Lancer" weapon system seems to be stronger at the PC version (3 Rockets and even an heavy tank is history)
So I can't attack this bases without to lose 90 % of my vehicles (and their experience).
The only other way i found to destroy this bases is to kill this Lancer Defensive Structures with Mortars first because even Bunker-busters haven't enough range to destroy them without to get killed.
That way I lose a lot of time.
I have trouble reaching the missions in time.
I'm now at the last mission of the first camp (where i must destroy the New Paradim).
I have 90 min used already and just made it 40 % to my target (120 min is limit).

.
Use Time Toggle cheat which will turn the Mission Timer off.
This page will explain how to do it: http://developer.wz2100.net/wiki/Cheats
cheers, whipper.

The lancer's about as strong. Make sure you're using Tracks. Scorpion Tracks is powerful enough to survive a few hits from lancer structures.

Ya I got the time toggle cheat working.
Normaly i'am not a fan of cheats because they kill the fun of gaming.....
But a stopped mission timer surly will not hurt much

The Playstation 1 Version have/had a Unit Limter of 40 iirc .
So i also played the pc Version with just a few units because of that limter in mind.
Maybe thats why i was so slow ?

I dunno. I usually finish way before that, and I usually have ~16-unit armies.

No im talking about 40 units overall.Zarel wrote:I dunno. I usually finish way before that, and I usually have ~16-unit armies.
That was just enough for 3 groups.
1 for transporter missions.
1 for defending
1 for attacking
12 units each
So 36...
Rest was trucks for building.
I had a cheat to disable that limiter but the Power of PS1 was limited and the game used the resources on edge so with alot of movement above 40 units it was possible that the game start to lag or even freezes.
But however the balancing was ok.I reached map gamma (or was it charly?). But got annyoed about the difficulty even on light so stopped playing for a while.

Any other solution to the problem ?? ( I hate cheats in RTS; If cheat is on, all the fun is gone )Ironfist wrote: The only other way i found to destroy this bases is to kill this Lancer Defensive Structures with Mortars first because even Bunker-busters haven't enough range to destroy them without to get killed.

Lancer and Bunkerbusters have the same range so your bunkerbusters all get destroyed if you attack a lancer .MortarMaster wrote:Any other solution to the problem ?? ( I hate cheats in RTS; If cheat is on, all the fun is gone )

At alot of maps this lancer structures are hidden behind hardcrete walls then its even more hard.
Bunkerbusters should have more range........

Either just lancer rush with ~24 lancers, or have a team of 10 lancers, 10 bombards, and a sensor turret, and use the bombards on the lancer towers.

NOTE!
The time toggle cheats are not, I say again, NOT fool proof.
While it may show time has stopped, that doesn't mean that *ALL* timers have stopped.
Basically, it can, and does, screw up the game, depending on how you use it, and which mission you are on.
You have been warned.
And no, I don't got time to fix this cheat.
The game was MADE to be used with mission timers for a reason.

Re: I have troubles to reach the missions in time.
i think a mix out of :
Commander
Heavy Machine gun tracks cobra (later pyton)
Lancer tracks cobra (öater phyton)
Repair cobra (later phyton)
Lancers and heavy machine gun and repair units as 1:1:1
(so 4 lancers,4 Heavy Machine guns,4 repair
With this mix you can destroy enemy units and bases lot quicker. But prepare to recover more often for repairs and that you lose more units.
With cannon tanks you need forever to destroy bunkers and hardcreate structures.
Cannon Tanks are very good as defenders. They resist long so you get alot of time to react and and are pretty good vs vehicles.
Poor attackers .They're to slow and need forever to destroy structures (even a heavy machine gun unit can destroy structures faster)

Re: I have troubles to reach the missions in time.
What I did the last time around was to build a couple of hover trucks as soon as I could, then build bombard pits near the enemy base. Include a sensor tower and a couple of heavy machine gun hardpoints to defend against cyborgs. Build some of these near the base in the NE corner and use some of the other suggestions for other units, and by the time you get to the last base, almost all the base and defenses will be gone.

Captain Campaign to the rescue! I'll assume you are playing version 2.1.X for this.
First thing to note: Unlike whatever version you are using where
The PC version has a MUCH higher limit. So if you just want "more tanks", go for it.Ironfist wrote:The Playstation 1 Version have/had a Unit Limter of 40 iirc .
Second is, I find the follow to be effective methods to handling the final Alpha campaign:
1) Make a large number of bombard *hovers*. Have them sit off on the ocean, and with 1 sensor tank (or tower) on the actual land-road, have them fire from offshore (be sure to take out the light cannon bunkers that overlook the water first). obviously, you need to take the mountain east of your base first for the tech.
2) Make a metric ton of BunkerBuster-bug-hovers (or wheels, until you get the hover from the mountain east of your LZ). They are fairly cheap, and if you have a lot of factories at your main base, you can airlift in a fleet of 10 of these guys every time the timer is set. Send them on anti-structure suicide missions (3 BB's per target structure, with #10 hanging back in case one gets destroyed before firing). After firing, 5-6 should survive the counter-fire, and you can then send those in for round 2 against 2 more structures, giving you 5 building kills per inbound airlift, with no threat to your heavy, tenured troops. Have said troops move in across land once the structures are largely rubble.
3) Make your *entire* force Heavy-Hover (after getting it), and then storm the east (watery) edge of the map, going north, with the objective of taking the NP-LZ, and the other short jut of land near it (bombard the towers around the LZ, and it should be considered "taken"). Make both of these areas forward bases (as in, repair bay, towers, and mortar pits). From these 2 areas, you should be able to have bombard-hovers take out 75% of the NP bases and defenses. My "record" for this method was 28 minutes to "colonize" both areas, leaving me plenty of time to destroy NP, and then recycle and rebuild my units as Treaded again. Note: you will probably lose a few heavy units with this method. Not for the feint of heart.
