Cannont connect to IRC?

I did some researching on the Warzone 2100 Mulitplayer, After digging in enough I found out using the IRC on server irc://irc.freenode.net/warzone2100 could allow me to find some people.

I downloaded Icechat and it keeps telling me that "No data record of Requested Type (Server)"

I have opened ports 9997 - 9999 as well.

No wirewalls or anything.

Cannot ping it or run a Tracert to it. Is there an updated IRC?

I use X-Chat, and mIRC is still the most popular Windows client. Try one of those.
