offline warzone install?

Post by fallenleader »

i ran a search and din't find anyone asking this question, warzone relies on me connecting to the internet to install it.

is it possible to make it a downloadable? its a 40mb download file, then another 60 in temp link download before install.

i have a craptop i want to put it on. no internet on it. i'm also unable to snatch the temp files, of which i've done before with other downloads like this :( so someone needs to let me know how and if's on this.

It only relies on the Internet if you install the optional music files. If you uncheck "Music" while installing, it'll still work just fine.

Around what? I don't understand what you're trying to get around. You can already install the game without an internet connection.

i was reasking if there was a way i could install those sounds as well, without internet.

sorry for the confusion. would it be possible for me to pull them out of a "all options selected" installed version, then just drop them in the other pc?

You can download it from

http://guide.wz2100.net/music.wz

And then just stick that file in C:/Program Files/Warzone 2100/mods/global/autoload/music.wz

It should have the same effect as checking "Download music" during the install. By the way, you only need to install music once (we don't update it very often), so if you're updating an existing installation of Warzone, you should always leave "Download music" unchecked.

How about two different Versions of the Installer? One Offline-Installer, which contains everything (so Music too), and one smaller, which downloads the Music. Would find that more user-friendly. Deactivatable as it is for now.
Possible to reduce the Size of the Online-Installer more and more by making it downloading all the Mods - then you always have the newest Version of them. Other Things could be downloaded too. Recommend is a Download-Database, where the Authors can update their Products, but since not everything changes often, you could already build that without Problems. You just need Time. And Will.

Whole Idea goes to an Auto-Updater again, heh ;)

By the Way: The Installer doesn't delete the Startmenu-Entries. No Version/Release did that at me. Other Files too: stderr.txt, whole Game-Folder. :stare:
