Changes to the Campaign?

Post by GooglyBoogly »

It has been MANY years since I last played Warzone, and I am planning on running through the campaign only.
Do the updates make any changes to how the campaign plays, or is it mostly bugfixes?

If so in what regard?

Do any balancing changes apply to the campaign? AI improvements? etc...

As far as I know, the balancing changes do not apply to the campaign. Other changes do, however.

The current projectile system makes flak anti-air weapons significantly more likely to miss, and thus weaker (but SAMs are still okay, since they're homing). That same projectile system also makes artillery more accurate for long ranges (and thus significantly more powerful). Everything else is mostly the same.

I'm still convinced the Scourge rockets in Gamma that Nexus launches at you are weaker than they used to be :P .

Googly:

I can't stress what Zarel has pointed out enough; Artillery is MUCH more effective, and AA is MUCH less.

This changes the dynamics of some of the stages dramatically.

A lot of the beta stages (especially the away missions) turn your armies into targets for planes. Be judicious when sending units to away missions; you may wish to make your "first away wave" a combination of nontenured units and trucks, if you don't like seeing elite units blown to hell.

By contrast, Gamma will be simpler than it used to be. All of those Nexus artillery platforms that used to annoy you all game can now be easily dispatched by just having some friendly artillery set up on a CB tower, which you can then use to lay waste to the rest of the stage when they are done with the Angels. And of course, Howitzers on Wheels will stomp anything not involving wings or cliff edges.
