need help getting wz running

Post by KillerChinchilla »

I have downloaded and installed 2.1 beta 5 , i tried to run it and it is giving me some weird resullts...
the game loads and only shows the background, no menu. it plays music and makes the noise when you click where the menu should be.
I've actually goten the game to load the campaign by clicking randomly, but when it loads I cannot see the world, its just the loading screen. I can do ctrl a and select units and move them around, so the game works, its just not displaying what it should.

I run windows Vista, and have a decent computer so i know it should be able to run it.

any and all help is appreciated

Please elaborate on the 'decent computer' List the vid card, and so on.
Are you running in admin mode or as a user account?
What do the stderr.txt (or stdout.txt) files say when the above happens?
Add --debug all to the END of the shortcut ("c:\whatever the path is\warzone2100.exe" --debug all )
and then attach the stderr.txt file it will create.

Get one of the debug nightly builds, and enter --flush-debug-stderr --debug all on the shortcut or command line, and when they crash, post the info needed in Trac.
You create a new ticket, with all the requested info I mention above.
and it ends here.

Which intel chipset does he have anyway?
For intel, it almost always is a gfx driver problem with them.
and it ends here.

If you are running Vista, try turning off Aero. Compositing window managers like Aero and compiz tend to do poorly with on-board graphics.

Updating your video driver is also helpful. If video problems persist, try turning down graphics hardware acceleration.
