how do you like this?

(there will be a door which opens when a unit has been produced)

.

I have long been fascinated by the look of integrated circuits in which I see as much art as science. This architecture,
to my point of view anyway, likewise projects that tandem of art and science melded in a strong composite.

I think that looks awesome; I am curious though why you chose to make it expand directly to full width right off of the class 2 instead of making it go from 1 - 2 - 3 bays, or even making the door that much wider over the three upgrades?
I like the idea of the pots that are connected they make the game much more connected in a design point of view.

well i thought we wouldn't produce units which are wider than 2 tiles^^ but i could be wrong
this is one point i'd like to discuss with you all. should i let it be or should i make it expand to full width in three steps?

Hey Actually now that you mention it that sounds great, having the bay be only 2 wide is smart, since as you said, we do only produce ones that are max 2 tiles wide.
I also like the three silo's attached, but its lopsided, could we add a fourth to make it even? (I am weird that way...)

Neat. The idea of enlarging a single workshop sounds good, but I'm not so sure about those silos. What are they?

All the three versions go on the same baseplate size, right? (Anything else would be a usability nightmare... There may not be space left to upgrade it!) So you could just make a workshop building that gradually grew for each upgrade. The area around the building could be filled with various construction leftovers, maybe, to indicate that the earlier versions are more improvised and less efficient?

i like the idea, so the first module is somewhat 'scavengers tech level 2/3'
on the same baseplate, i've 3x3 or even 4x3 in mind
thanks for the input :)

I was thinking about the idea of having the upgrades looking like they have been used, and I was wondering instead of having a body next to the Factory, what about tires or tracks instead. Since they are more commonly used, they would be more widly recognized, and new members would more easily recognize what the building is for?

i'd say component stocks or energy accumulators

hmm, new users can click on the structure and immediately they'll see that's for producing units

This is true, but some like visual clues... either way it was just an idea.

Maybe add the open door animation to original factories? Your models are nice, but I like the original ones.

It might actually be possible, it depends if the dust (droid appears out of factory) gfx is always in the same place.
