Some more music I've made...

Post by Goth Zagog-Thou »

I was listening to the most excellent music which accompanies the recent releases of the game, and since I'm something of a musician myself, I thought I'd make some more and contribute.

So far I've got two almost-completed works and one in-progress. The two that are almost done just need some mix-down and a bit more substance, but they are good and I'm very proud of them.

The first is a little bit ambient, little bit electronica -- name's Rebirth.

The second is plain metal. The guitar you hear isn't real -- it's done with a pair of synths piped thru a lot of distortion and layering. :D It's called Black Winter.

I hope you all enjoy it, and I do indeed take requests and am willing to collaborate.

Everyone's talking about music... Why don't I know anything about it???
Does someone ship a modified installer without telling me???

Perhaps they're still using 0.2.2 from SourceForge (that one had music included, right?), or have installed over that version...

GZT, what do you develop your music with?

FL Studio 7 (Beta) and a LOT of patience. ;) Been using the program since the 3.5 days.

Remember, I take requests --- and the third score I'm working on is something ... familiar. :)

oo :)  I'll check back as I can for more releases.

Where are the songs that you were referring to in your first post (that accompany the recent releases of the game)?

Yeah, sorry, it's a closed beta for now. I believe the RC will be public, and it should hit by Feb.1 (since thats when this build of FL expires lol).

And Chojun (good to see ya btw) it was the music that came with the 0.2 release of the game on sourceforge.

The rebirth song is really nice.

You're going to like the third one then. :)

I do have a question for those who might know about this. Since the original music and vids are (from what I've gathered) considered "warez", what about derivative works? For instance, if someone were to make, say, a new and different take on the originals which didn't use sampling or anything dodgy; like a tribute band doing cover tunes but putting their own spin on it. What's the policy with that?

as long as it is a fresh take on the sound and not a 1 for 1 copy of it.  should be fine... but as is **wont** to say here and there... i am not a lawyer... ;D

But: We currently don't support any playback of videos.
It is in discussion for a later version to support ingame scripted sequences, but it may be real long till that version is released...

Derivative works require permission from the original copyright holder. So that is not feasible.
