As some of you know, im deployed in hell right now(afghanistan to be exact)

The way the internet is setup here intriges me.

1: Limewire can view all the other shared files on the network

2: Users using vista are able to see eachother but cant access anything.

3: the 100$ package gives 128k (12.5kb/s) download and 60 (6.0kb/s) upload

My question:

Is there a way to view everything being shared on the network among the 5-700 computers that are on at any given time

Ive used probing techniqies and can ping other ip address that i have find with trial and error.

Is there a way i can have a little more fun with the type of network im on now, and still remain not in jail

Windows networking can be very finicky when not setup correctly.

Also, with Vista's new security measures, the owners of the files will probably have to explicitly give you access, especially if you're going through your unit's/company's/division's/whatever's domain.

Also I personally would play it safe and assume that your actions are being monitored (even your attempts, even if you aren't able to access anything).

Oh, and could you clarify this for me? Are you referring to windows networking or p2p fileshare?

We all use a massivly big civilian network setup, not monitered by any1.

Since most people that dont know much about computers buy vista, i can only see 10 people from xp, but any vista machine can see EVERYONE else.

The only thing connecting us all together rite now is limewire ethernet connected routers ect
