About Cheat mode

Greetings

Well I have read everything, and tried to get the time only to shut off, but have failed at every level.

I created a short cut and the command line parameters, I put in came from this site.
These were, as follows..
only in side the double brackets..
(( "C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe" [--cheat --debug] ))

The above will input, but the below will not input, because windows xp refuses command line parameters without these [].....

"C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe" --cheat --debug


All I wanted to get was the timer shut off..

Maybe it is because I am using a the free version?

I download every version available online, I would have even got the paid version, but it seem nobody offers it anyway.

Can anyone body here give me the correct and complet steps to activate the cheat mode?

current version installed is on my Windows XP PC is, warzone2100-2.1_beta1-r1

I had a newer version, but it kept crashing and the text was all like square blocks?

This may sound stupid, but I use to do programming, and my first PC was a VIC 20,, but I got in an accident and am now suffering from a permanent disability.
The issues I deal with everyday are intense pain, and cognitive loss, and the worst is memory loss,, no the pain..


Now because of all this I need to do something to distract my mind from the discomforts..

So I got back into computers in 2001 after the disability INS., paid off.. First I found these online forums and got into the truth movement, you know Alex Jones, to chemtrails and political corruption. Well you can't wake everybody up, and besides, it is time for me to have some fun for a change. The last video game I ever played before my accident I think was Wolf3d, a pretty cool game in it's day, and it ran from DOS, that was before Windows..

Well online you can download so much free stuff, it is wild.. I got maybe 100 games, and out of all of these I just like the crap out of WARZONE 2100..

The thing is, my brain will not let me compete as I once did, so I needed to slow this booger down, and it seems that the timer that you get at the,, what 2nd mission, just takes the fun out of this for me.

So, I do not know for sure what I can do for any of you, should you choose to help fix this cheat mode timer problem.. But I will tell you I have in my 51 years, learned a great deal, and would be happy to share what ever skills and knowledge I have..

you can also change the game speed by pressing ctrl/strg and scroll up or down (without enabling debug mode)

(however --debug is not that what you want. it's for specifying how much debug message should appear)
just start with --cheat parameter:
"C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe" --cheat

then start a campaign and press shift-backspace
then press enter, type "time toggle" and enter again...

SEE HERE, is what is killing me on this, I can't input the bold command line parameters above.
I copy/pasted exactly.. And then when I select apply I get this error message exactly below..

The name C:\Program' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct

Above is exactly the Windows XP error message,, whats up ?

In windows XP, if I do not input these brackets [ --cheat] then it will not allow the error window to close, an I know we do not want the [] brackets.. I am perplexed ?

Maybe I can't run the game in XP mode ? should I run it in compatibility mode, like for win95 ?

ps: where are those websites are they still accessible?

About those, no they are now both dead, one was www.h2o.com/ I lost it first, because of the 4 year wait for SSI, but I also lost survivewell.com a little later on, it was acually my first web site, it was about surviving the coming hard times, including bio-chem-and nukes, etc.. food shortages,, I was in the USMC, also who screwed me out of my vet benefits...

I figured out the MAIN PROBLEM..

In order for the command line parameters to input, I had to put the game in Compatibility mode for WIN98 ME and select 256color mode box below that.

I wonder how many other people had this problem ?

That's strange; you shouldn't have to do that.

This message:

The name C:\Program' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct

probably means you forgot the quotation marks, and are doing something like:

C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe --cheat

instead of:

"C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe" --cheat

Hmmm... at least you have it working but you shouldn't have to use compatibility mode or set to 256c..

i run Win XP SP2 and i don't do any of those settings.

here's my command line verbatim: "C:\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe" --mod art-update.wz --fullscreen --cheat

i use this mode to take screens 'cause i can readily stage caps like as if i were making a WZ Machinma.

btw - just finished Alex Jones "End Game" a few weeks ago... "nice" bunch of fellas, the Bilderberg Group... been on the trail
of everything dealing with the "Federal Reserve" (inc Supreme Court decisions) every since my eyes were

what does the Mod-art-update do in the commandline friend?

No I did not forget any syntax, but I will tell you something very odd.
After I did get the proper command line syntax inputed by switching to Wim98 me mod, I went back and selected regular XP mode, and it still functions.

Now I get all the cheat mode stuff, but I still can not stop that dang timer form ticking all the way down to zero..

I press and hold at the same time, Shift-BackSpace, then it replies on the screen DEBUG mode, and or Cheats on..
can't remember exactly..

But then I type time toggle and a script file or something runs and displays a mass of scrolled blue text down the screen, extremely fast. I see in the text as my eyes try and focus, F-1, and other keys that do different selections. But that Time keeps ticking..lol

I also found that CTRL O ( oh ) not zero, gives a super cheat / place objects on the map, and I can cheat terribly with that, but I wish I could just turn off the timer..


Thanks all for now, I got to check back later because it is time to put another log on the fire, and bring in some more wood for my old stove. Tonite is going to be a cold one.. this part of the command line --mod art-update.wz puts artist Grim Moroe's nifty graphic upgrades into the game.
you can see some of those upgrades in my screen shots in the thread 'wz screenshoots' (sic).

time toggle is the correct code for extending your time beyond that allotted by the campaign mission timers - why
your not having it function properly after typing it in I can't say. i assume after you are in debug mode you press the
letter 't' which gives you the field at the bottom of the screen where in you type 'time toggle'...

concerning the info on the sites you shared - for some reason i don't get bummed but rather am amazed how most go
about their lives in blissful ignorance in the sense that as long as they have enough money to buy toys its all good. and,
i agree, there a number of 'truth shills' out there you have to weed thru and the web, as it can harbor such shills, is also
a good tool to track down and expose what is no more than specious demagoguery.
