all text missing during gameplay

I am sort of a veteran with this game, I played it many years ago. I sort of had some nostalgia for it today and decided to download it. Then I had a problem. All the places that should have text appear completely blank. Also, all terrain surfaces are untextured during gameplay (I got there through gusssing which buttons do what). I have no idea what the problem is or how it may be fixed.

:O sounds like a corrupted downloade, either that or your graphics card doesn't support OpenGL properly :/

What's your specs might be able to help you a bit better, also which version did you donwload? RC 1, 2.0.10 etc

I think it is likely the OpenGl problem that is the cause. I dont think my system has it. I used to be able to play it back in 2002 when I was on it all the time. That was also on a different machine. I guess I might need a hardware change.
