You guys are seriously messed up.
Well, thanks for that. Like Giel said, code which isn't there can not contain any bugs. In the long run it will save us a lot of time to remove a small feature like this. And most of you might start and quit the game only once a day, I do it once every five minutes when fixing bugs.
What I say is not meant as offense, I am just really intrigued that people find this such a pressing issue.. O_o

Besides, doesn't the WRP version CTD anyway? So I guess only a percentage of people see the quit screen? :P ;)

Suggesting that the quit screen may have bugs is arguing a moot point. The game is quitting anyway. Besides, how many bugs can a quit screen have?

We had a bug on OS X a while back that would cause it to hang at the quit screen. (And since we capture most keyboard input, one would have to either remember the Apple key-combo for the task manager or SSH in and kill the process.)

I like the Screen and it should stay. There should stay some Informations of the Original Invonters of this Game in general.
You could put a Duration at the Screen, so that the Game ends automatically after like 5 Seconds.

i like this. a new menupoint 'credits' -> the scrolling widget

OK, I understood that you want to remove it so that there are less things that could go wrong in the game, which I certainly can understand.
Wouldn't it be possible to have a command line function, something like --nosplash or similar which would make it easier for you guys to test run the game without it slowing your work down, and possibly make it easier for people launching multiplayer games through other programs (if that is even possible now) to skip that part.

Of course, the best option might be just to remove it and redo it in a better less intrusive way. Maybe shown at the end of the campaign or something, since that's the thing that I guess has changed the least since the retail version.

Furthermore, it's only 4 seconds if it was only displayed once. But it's displayed each time the game exits, at which point I believe it does more harm than good.

and as long as we do this in our free time we can do what we like to do
exactly. no doubt about that. and it does apply to anyone out there who wants to mess with
the source... don't have to ask permission, make polls or come off all righteous or any of that.
just do it, try & finish more than you abandon, half-baked. which is what i find terribly amusing bout all this,
seriously,.... hardly ,

Gee, and there I was thinking that evangelicals were the sole presenters of false dichotomies.

If I ever thought that discussions like this were consuming valuable time in which I could be doing something more productive (like committing my table layout widget) I would quickly excuse myself from the debate. The amount of thought I have put into this entire issue is not even on the same wavelength as that which I put in when doing serious programming — so rest assured that my participation heretofore is not 'costing' anything of value.

Gee, and there I was thinking that evangelicals were the sole presenters of false dichotomies.
i for one don't think that way, though daily "either-or" decisions are as commonplace as taking a crapper.or
breathing - and as essential.

many of us here (must) make decisions, choose what we shall do or not do, (those who live under totalitarian regimes are
not so blessed as even them still resident in mommy's nest). "false dichotomies" serve only propaganda or rationalizations, rather it seems to always boil down to - "this is what I want to do, this is what i'm gonna do. this is what i feel like doing." and so forth. anything
layered atop that decision is frill, facade or commentary after the fact. so, in short, we all command the rudder of whatever state our living assumes, in everything from jobs, familial responsibilities & schooling, to any and all our pastimes from drinking pints, throwing down
in the dojo to sipping a cappuccino and flirting with the red head at the next table to working on or playing a foss game to taking 60 seconds
to make this post. as for the splash credit screen, i find the Zen koan dealing with the sound of one hand clapping liberating. :ninja:

always a pleasure freddie.

regards, whipper

I agree with the whole dedicated credits screen, don't show it on exit but when betawidget is ready, create a nice new high-res one :)

Maybe get elio to do some gfx for us :) nudge nudge wink wink ;)

Basicly quit screen is for Advertisment & imformation purpouse. Right ?

I recommend to remove quit sreen & add it like a Start Srceen(when the game starts.) & to make It as it was said befor (in this topic) Incraese Its quality.(Or may be add its information to intro FMVs, so it would be showen only first at launch)

I hope I wrote understandable.
