Oohh, nasty nasty timing.
Looks like some hand held device. Not only does it play videos and such, its also a toaster-refrigerator-hair comb-microwave-pizza factory-and much much more!
Tough luck.

Re: damn pandora preorders sold out..
the pandora is an extraordinary piece of technology - across many areas, not the least being that a dedicated
forum community contributed in a very real way to it's design.
unfortunately, the first manufacturing run was limited to 3000 units which immediately sold out. next run is in q1 of '09.
and actually the jokes are not far fetched in reality. with the right software and hook up it could run a "smart home", call your local pizzeria and window washer, place an order for a pie and when you want the window washer to come by.

Re: damn pandora preorders sold out..
i think everyone here knows it's primary touting is as a game device - we're not totally
deficient in gray-matter.. all kidding aside.
but there is a genuine excitement about the Pandora that goes beyond gaming as well and it is
legit and not really overstated IMO. for example those sub-notebooks that have become popular
with road warriors that do a lot flying and that cost over $ 2000.00 - well the Pandora is a viable
alternative at only <25% the cost. (then there are potential niche incursions into the handheld, pda
and, even possibly, the blackberry markets).
also - i do believe that comparing it to the DS or PSP is a bit misleading in the sense that there
isn't a single Pandora game in existence yet (that i know of) let alone libraries of games like those other
platforms. course, like the Wiz, there will be emulators in short order to run tons of retro games from a
host of platforms going back to the Amiga. long before the Pandora has it's equivalent to Madden, SOCOM,
Zelda or Metroid.... it will make it's mark in other other areas important to its long term thriving, IMO.
anyway, i will be buying a Pandora in '09. i coulda easily gone for the first batch but i really wanna see
what hits the street and how it stacks up to the advertising before i buy.

my inner child has fallen under the spell of e e cummings poesy, aesthetics & life work - like:Hey whippersnapper, why the change in penmanship ?
i go to this window
just as day dissolves
when it is twilight (and
looking up in fear
i see the new moon
thinner than a hair)
making me feel
how myself has been coarse and dull
compared with you, silently who are
and cling
to my mind always
but now she sharpens and becomes crisper
until i smile with knowing
-- and all about
herself
the sprouting largest final air
plunges
inward with hurled
downward thousands of enormous dreams
