Would WZ2100-R use an extra hand?

Post by Olrox »

Well, let's say "I'm back".

I've, much time ago, modelled some vehicle body models, intending to replace the current ones for more graphical detail's sake.
Now I see that my work wasn't of good quality, I'd lack experience in modelling by vertices and faces, I used Aut*CAD 2**6 (for registered trademark etc blah blah blah sake), and the result didn't look good at all. Too many vertices and no significant improvement, mainly because of circular splines generating hundreds of unecessary faces.

Getting to the point :suprised: :!!!:

I'm asking the Dev-Team if they do want some texturized structure models, with some additions. Unlike vehicles, structures's poly count can be raised without much significance, because they're not going to multiply by the dozens, as it would happen to vehicles, and the current structures don't look good at all (the only ones looking reasonable are the ones you guys already "polished", like the command relay post and hardcrete walls in grim's gfx pack).
But whatever, the models aren't ready yet! I'm asking now because I don't want to make something that isn't going to be used at all. In the summer vacation, I'll have plenty of time and I'll do have to teach 3D-modelling to a friend of mine, so I could put structure modelling as an objective.

Well, with that I offer my humble services, for free of course, to the Dev-Team.

We'd absolutely love to have better models in the game. If you haven't already, I suggest you read the artwork information that we have in the wiki. It is not much, but it is a start.

Ok, then.
By the way, sohuld I try to "Improve" the current models only or should I create new ones mantaining the foundation size and basic elements?
I'll post the un-texturized models first, on another board, for the sake of following the rules, so I can get some evaluation from the community. Should start modelling on wednesday only, leaving texturizing for the vacation, though, because it does take more time.
Thank you for the attention already, it's nice to have a community where you get heard with no problems. :D

I'd guess improvements to existing models will be easier to get accepted than totally remodelled versions, since people are very used to the old models. Although maybe I am wrong. The best approach is probably to start with what you find is more fun, then take it from there.

Yeah, that may work the best.
