When I start Warzone 2100 (on my Windows Xp) or any game that starts in fullscreen for that matter, nothing happens. When some does happen, all the icons go huge and then sometimes I hear the music but nothing on the screen but bloated icons!! Sometimes my mouse gets stuck in this box: it can move but only in the box. So I have to end it with task manager. The only fullscreen game I could open is spore creature creator and it took 3 minutes to load! It worked fine yesterday.

At what resolution is your monitor? Try right clicking on the Warzone game, go to properties, and go to the compatibility tab. Try messing around with the compatibility mode and disply settings.
when you go to the task manager, what does it say the box is?
try alt+tab when you reach the box, your tool bar on the bottom of your screen should show up so you can click your game.
