Map crashes in game
Hi,
I decided to try mapmaking for WZ, read all the tutorials, stickies and downloaded the last versions.
All seems to be set correct, but if I compile my map, it crashes Wz (2.1B4) with the Runtime error (see attachment)
No idea, what is wrong, it worked fine for one test, than I have edited the terrain and the map works no more.
Did the changes back, but still crashes.
Anybody can point me on what I'm doing wrong ?
My test-map file is attached.
Thx, MB

Re: Map crashes in game
Are you saying with the EW32 that was hacked for 2.1 (located in the 2nd sticky) crashes, and gives you that error, or does it crash in beta 4 with that error?
If you could, also post your stderr.txt & stdout.txt, if that error was from the game.

Re: Map crashes in game
I can compile the map without errors. But if I try to start a skirmisch-game, the game crashes with this error.Buginator wrote:Are you saying with the EW32 that was hacked for 2.1 (located in the 2nd sticky) crashes, and gives you that error, or does it crash in beta 4 with that error?

Tried both versions. 2.1Beta4 crashes directly, after you try to choose the map,
2.0.10 crashes during the loading procedure of the map.
Also, I tried to compile with both version of the EW32.exe, with no changes.
"stdout.txt" is empty and the only one error in the "stderr.txt" means:
error : [loadTerrainTypeMap] loadTerrainTypeMap: too many types
which is completly nonsense, cause this test map is using only one texture and one terrain type.
It seems, it is one more of the many bugs, this editor have.
EDIT: ok, it seems it has something to do with the edge-brush.
If I'm not using one, all is working fine, when I paint the terrain with edge-brush, the compiled map forces the game to crash.
Is there any tutorial about brush-work ?
EDIT2: Even without edge-brush, if I change something on the textures, my map won't load.
Still the same error with "to many types". I just tried to use second texture > Crash.

Re: Map crashes in game
One of these days I will get around to looking at the map.
Sorry for the delay, but I have little time.

Re: Map crashes in game
Hello
I have the same problem. I can build my own maps without problems but if i want to start a skirmish game on one of my maps (Warzone Version 2.1beta5 or 2.2.3, i tried in both) the game crashes while loading.
The joke is that i can load Metalbeasts testmap and i can play on it normally, so it would be very nice if someone
has an idea what i have to do now.
thanks

This is a waste of space. Something important should be here.

Re: Map crashes in game
you will need to add 1 more player or get rid of player 1. player 0 / player 1/ player 7 will not work - only 3 players show and the game requires an even number 2 or 4 or 8.... see small note under the file attachment for the rest of the small errors that i fixed - wasnt sure what you were wanting to do about the 2 4 8 thing so didnt do that. ok? xD
make note that player 7 is needed to make scavs work - if i am not mistaken.

Re: Map crashes in game
hmm i wanted to make scavengers for the "chaos" option in multiyplayer games, i read that scavengers have to be pl7.
So have i to un-enable pl7 when i compile the map (so it is a 2pl map) and then scavengers (=pl7) were automatically
loaded if the "chaos" option is chosen?

no - un-enable player 1 to check out if it still crashes. and with that i am at my limit of knowledge - i havent used scavs before on any of my maps. your best bet is to check with whippersnapper or one of the others that have used scavs.

Re: Map crashes in game
ok i made a little test map, i think the problem is that my ew32 doesnt pack all information into the wz file or something like that.
Its the same problem with this test map... if i want to start a skirmish game with this map it also crashes during the loading process. The other strange thing is that if i select my map in game it doesnt even show me a map preview.
With none of my maps i made in the ew32 it shows me a map preview in game. Also if i click on the eye it shows me nothing.
If i test my maps in the version 2.1beta5 there comes an C++ runtime error.
-I set the directory preferences like the tutorial says and in the ew32 i can load my maps without problem, just if i click on "View edge brushes" the ew32 crashes instantly.
-i have no units or something else within the 4-5 last tiles, i have a truck within 3 tiles to an oil resource for every player, and i un-enabled all players which i dont use, so just pl0 and pl1 enabled.
-refferred to the C++ runtime error i read that i have to change the path names in the .lev file to the unix path format
from "\" to "/". So i did.... perhaps i did here something wrong.
- at least i copied the .lnd and the .wz file into the maps folder of wz2100 where also new maps which i downloaded from the internet are.
So as it didnt work i tried out different ways of putting the files into the folders and i compared the DT1.wz with other .wz files from maps.
Now I really dont know anymore how to get my maps funcionable.
So I attached files for my testmap "DT1". Hopefully someone can see where the problem is hidden.
Thanks a lot
