Crash when loading saved game.

I just downloaded the latest version today, and I have played through some missions of campaign 1, I have saved on the mission successful screen after the first battle with the New Paradigm, I then quit and did other stuff and came back later, I tried to load my save game, and when it finishes loading I hear the 'bong!' sound for an error message, I try alt tabbing and using ctrl-alt-del to try and bring up the message, but it won't show and I have to use task manager to shut down Warzone, I also looked in event viewer, and can find no error messages related to the game, so I can't provide much more info than I have already posted.

My computer specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2ghz
2GB of RAM
Nvidia 8600 with 256mb of DDR3
Windows XP, Service Pack 3

I have Ubuntu 8.04 on another partition, but I can't figure out how to install the newest version of Warzone on there, so I am playing it under Windows for now.

Curse myself for only having a single save game!

I take it by latest version you mean beta4? Can you post your savegame?

Yes, I am running Beta 4, but I have looked through the Warzone 2100 folders and there is nothing in there that looks like a save, and there are no Warzone 2100 folders in My Documents. Does this crash happen in the Ubuntu version? If it doesn't, how do I install Beta 4 of Warzone in Ubuntu?

You can search your HD for the name of the savegame file, if you can't find it.

It shouldn't crash when loading a savegame, but we need said savegame to determine why it crashed on you.

For Ubuntu, I suggest you check out the wiki, it will tell you what you need to do.
For linux, it would be ~/.warzone2100 or something along those lines (sorry, my linux box isn't up for me to check)
For windows, it is ...(I forget, since I use a custom config directory, but, you can find it by doing --debug all on the command line/shortcut (warzone2100 --debug all), and then open stdout.txt and check where the write directory is.)

I added the --debug all, and now the save game has decided to behave and load normally. And on the subject on the Linux installation, the wiki tells me this:

"Installing Warzone 2100 using the provided installers should be trivial. If this fails, you might try to build Warzone from source. "

Hardly trivial, I double click the file I download, which appears to be a mojo file or something, and nothing happens, and I'd rather not do a bunch of programming to make the game work if possible. And are the save files the same for each version? As I'd love to run this on Ubuntu, taking me another step away from Microsoft.

Dunno what mojo is.
The savegame files should work on all supported platforms, as long as they are the same versions.
You can't use 2.1 savegames on 2.0, and vice-versa.
