Documentation to a wiki?

Post by Granneman »

Hi,

I just started playing, you guys are doing an awsome job!
But I was a bit taken back when I tryed going through the documentation, I'm not trying to step on annybodys toes here, and I understand that lav_coyote25 is doing a great job. But I was wondering if it would be possible to integrate the documentation project into the wiki(manual) or into a separate wiki, more integrated to the wz2100.net webpage?

This would make it possible to have more up to date documentation as people could help improving wikipages and writing guides for the game.

I tryed searching through the forums to find information on this but I couldnt realy find annything but similar uncommented suggestions, I understand that this is a daunting task, but I belive that people would want to help to make this happend, atleast I would help as much as I can. And I belive it would make learning the game more easy.

hi back - and welcome!!.

i started compiling the documents as i found them ( i asked a question which turned into 6 plus years of work.) and started to put them together the best i could - this of course was prior to knowing and having access to wikki. all the document project was done using MS frontpage. if you have the time - go ahead and transfer them to the wikki - keeping intact all the credits and notices please. the community will appreciate any and all assistance. :D

Thank you :)

Ok, but just to make sure, it should transfer it to the current wiki and nothing but the current wiki right?

Edit:
After looking a bit at the wiki, I found the statement
For now, most information on playing Warzone can be found on http://docs.wz2100.net. It is our goal to move all this information to the Wiki in the near future.
So I've started making pages with information from the docs project, one thing I'm uncertain about is how you want me to
keeping intact all the credits and notices please

i.e if there is somthing copyed from a wikipediapage with that information no longere there? If a wikipage I make is from several pages from the docs project, what do I do? Sorry to be so difficoult, but I thought it's better to ask then to do somthing wrong.

your going to have to basicly make sure that where i have given credits to whomever - is basicly listed as i have it on that particular page.

for instance : Thanks to Granneman for the transfering to wikki of the following pages. (listing page #'s of course ).

or if you see any pages where i have included numerous persons (due to the page being from a forum discussion etc...)

if this confuses you let me know and i will make arrangements to be online ( either msn / aim / skype etc... ) just let me know what im and when.

i am in edmonton alberta canada here it is gmt -7 (daylight savings time).

Several pages in docs.wz2100.net have a header (or footer) about who wrote that tutorial/walkthrough/... or who helped to write it.

I'd just transfer that info into the wiki like this:
"This guide was assembled from pieces originaly written by ..."
"This information was gathered with help from ..."
"Thanks to ... for writing this documentation."
"This page is based on a document by ..."

Something like that. Will suffice.

And a big thanks in advance to you for even taking this huge task. :) Know that we all (especially those who always lacked the time to attempt it) appreciate it.
