Multiplayer Freezing

Post by Vmango »

Hi everyone. I'm looking for some help. I know there have been numberless questions regarding multiplayer troubles but I can't seem to find the right answer - maybe someone can help. I've already portforwarded my wireless router, I am using a PC with game version 2.0.10 and my friend is using a Mac with the same version.

We cannot seem to play multiplayer. When he hosts, I can see his hosting through the lobby and through IP, but when I click on the game, my computer seems to freeze. I am dying to play him at this game and I hope someone may have a suggestion. I will also add that on top of my router (D-Link WBR-2310) my DSL modem is a Speedstream 4200. I forwarded ports 9996-9999 on my router and as I mentioned, the same things keeps happening.

Thanks for your help.

2.0.10 is too old, and won't work playing against a mac.

Please get the latest 2.1 BETA 2 (or 3 if it is out) and use that if you play against a mac person.  That *should* work, but because we have no mac testers, we can't verify cross platform play. :(

When you do get the 2.1 BETA 2/3, please inform us of the outcome.

Thanks.
and it ends here.

Thanks. Should he (the Mac user) get the same version too? I can't find a Mac release of the Beta 2....

I'll let you know the outcome when we try it.

Yes, both games MUST be same version.  (Also MUST be 2.1 beta 2+)

I don't know where  you can find a mac release either, perhaps one of the mac people that frequent the forums can compile something up for you?
and it ends here.

Hi,
It seems I have a simmilar problem. Is it possible to play multiplayer game between linux and windows machines? I am using Ubuntu linux and can see windows-hosted game, but screen freezes, when trying to connect (and vice-versa). We both use Warzone v.2.1 beta. Thanks.

Yeah, that works fine. Just make sure you are *really* using 2.1 beta 2[or higher] (as in compile it yourself, the one in the ubuntu repo is older than the dorito crumbs in your keyboard).

Make sure all ports 9997-9999 are open on FW & router.

The freeze is most likely a time-out, waiting to connect...
