About "ADAV", qwerty is right.
"Poussée vectorielle" is another technology that increase break-angle, EF2000 et F22 have it.

About "Hover",
we can keep "propulsion sur coussin d'air" for technical description.

About "twin",
"jumelé" is the correct translation, but "coaxial" is most used.
"Coaxial" refers to point on the same axis, not necessarly the same weapon, you can have a cannon with a machine-gun "coaxiale".
Assault Gun = Canon d'assaut
Assault Cannon= ?
Good question Moro... man say "sulfateuse" too for rotative gun.
I prefer keep "canon d'assault" for "assault cannon".

@ qwerty,
I did one mandate for the KFOR, I don't mean man can speak about "veteran".

@ gnou:

LOL. "Sulfateuse", yes. But maybe too slangy ( don't know why but when I read this word I remember old movies as Les Tontons Flingueurs;)

Don't know if here coaxial actually matches what we see in-game. I often heard this word used when talking about the (internal) machinegun embedded in a tank turret, as secondary weapon beside the main gun (on main battle tanks).

Jumelées:                                           Coaxiale:

ImageImage

PLZ:

Mitrailleuse.

- "propulsion sur coussin d'air" for technical description / Yes.
- keep "canon d'assault" for "assault cannon" / Yes.

@ Kroc:

About "mitrailleuse double" : OK, but the original french translation is not the holly bible.

No need to launch your game if you wanna know how "assault canon" was translated. Check your warzone2100.wdg file in WZ root directory.

Who is Alex ?
Who is Louise ?

@ qwerty800: my eMail (G.W.) already in PO file, check the headers.

I am Vincent Laviron. For MoroSqua's e-mail, check the Last Translator string in the po file. Since I don't use poedit to do the translations, I usually forget to change the headers.

Yep Moro, "sulfateuse" is not a young term.
But it is more proper to "Prédator" than "Les tontons flingueurs"... ^^

About "coaxial",
2 things parallel are "coaxiales".
"2 mitrailleuses coaxiales/montées en coaxial" is equal to "mitrailleuses jumelées".

I began to work this way: launching the game with the latest PO/MO file loaded, und correcting errors or adding missing translations at the same time, checking everything -briefings, weapons, researches,...-. Hell , how boring it is !

But there is another problem here, e.g. the way I translated:
#: data/messages/strings/cam1strings.txt:6
msgid "Establish a base, then search for a Pre-Collapse structure."
msgstr "Construisez une base, puis recherchez tout bâtiment Pré-Apocalyptique."

#: data/messages/strings/cam1strings.txt:7
msgid "This structure contains technology vital for the success of the Project."
msgstr "Ces bâtiments abritent des technologies vitales pour le succès du Projet."
I used the plural form, because there are several Scavengers bases to eradicate. However I know that the 'Pre-Collapse structure" refers to... a cyborg factory - I watched the FMVs. So what to do ? As we do not have the vids, must the translation refer to what we actually see or refer to what the game could be with the FMVs inserted ?

---------------------------------------------------

Image

So we make a choice ?

"Jumelé(e)s", "coaxiales(aux)", "Double" ?

"Chenilles", "Chenillé(e)(s)", "sur Chenilles" ?

--------------------------------------------------

NOTE: I got a huge RTF file (around 300 pages) which seem to contain the "original" (I can't be sure of that) translation... Gonna post a few strings, later. Maybe some guys who have the original french game will tell me if this is a fake or not...

If you are referring to the translation of the "Tracks" string, I vote for "Chenilles", because I think it would match the english version (tracks, not tracked) : names are supposed to be understood as "turret" - "body" - "propulsion", not as one global name. Besides, there is still this feature that allows you to change the name of any of your designs, although I don't think anybody uses it.

For the whole bunch of predefined names and for "Tracked propulsion", though, it makes sense to use another translation, more specific.

My opinion is that we should adapt our translations to the current project, which doesn't contain FMVs, so the plural is good.

Having unit "correctly named", according gender & plural, by the game is not "light".
A few check with if nested...etc

Models like can be an alternative:
"[String_weapon] sur [String_chassis] à [String_propulsion]"
with:
String_propulsion[] = {"roues", "semi-chenilles", "chenilles"}

but there is a problem for hovercraft and VTOL...
One check would be needed and change the model as:
"[String_propulsion] [String_weapon] sur [String_chassis]"

?

Moro,
there is no problem for me with your text.

p.s.  I always rename my units  :D
