I'd think dark tiles encourages a new player to explore and might help to prevent a them from guessing certain things about the map (like where a base is or whatever).
What say you?

Should we use dark unexplored tiles again for campaign?

I don't think that this is a good idea, mostly because the tutorial
- includes recovery of an artifact, which is much easier for a new user
if the map is visible - would cease to be equally useful for both skirmish and campaign games

Tutorial stays the same (rules.js isn't loaded here so the new script function setRevealStatus() takes no effect).Forgon wrote: 14 May 2019, 10:37 mostly because the tutorial

Another option would be to make this a hard/insane difficulty feature.

I really can't decide on this. I think, for Campaign, it should be a difficulty feature or be modifiable in the settings. For Skirmish, it could be one of the options on the left panel.
Now that I thought about it, in Campaign, you don't have any satellite data to get the terrain from, so it should be black. However, the area around mission objectives within about a 10 tile radius could have the faded(current) version. In skirmish, you can preview the map, and because of this and many reasons, should have at least a basic idea of the map before a game starts. Due to this, it should just be up to the player.
