There is no need to wait. Our translation system handles changes to game text (if that happens before 2.1) very gracefully.doom3r wrote: So... do I have to wait for 2.1 to begin my translation?

If you use any of these files: http://svn.gna.org/svn/warzone/trunk/po/ then those are for the current pre-2.1 codebase. So no you don't have to wait for 2.1.doom3r wrote: So... do I have to wait for 2.1 to begin my translation?
In fact if you start now your (partial) translation could be included in 2.1!
I'm not sure who said that and what you mean by that. But I suggest you use poedit as I explained in my response above.doom3r wrote: You told it could be translated in a better way, what will be the differences?

Thats where i read that... But, maybe he just wanted to say that Warzone in general can be translated easily.DevUrandom wrote: Version 2.1 will be fully translatable in an easy way.

Re: Game ends suddenly
Well, the translation itself doesn't get easier. You still have to know the languages.
But now you have one file which contains all pieces of texts which are translatable. You have a system and editor to manage these translations. The system will recognize where the original text has changed and mark it as "fuzzy" (i.e. not completely matching), so you still have a translation which is probably roughly correct, but can fix it later. The texts are easier for us to change, but still in sync with your translations. You can always switch from one language to another, without having to copy over and replace any file.
That's roughly it.

Yep. I just started to translate the game in Italian... Since I haven't found any default file, i got the German version of the file. I noticed that some strings weren't translated and are coloured in blue in POedit. Do I have to leave them in English?

Re: Game ends suddenly
So the blue strings are just not yet translated and the yellow ones were translated once, but the original string has changed since then.PoEdit Manual wrote: untranslated strings are in blue and are always at the beginning of the list. Fuzzy translations are in yellow
I attached a fresh file for italian for you.
For anyone else: The blank files should all be identical if I am not mistaken. So you can all use the it.po file, rename it to match your language (so we later dont mix them up) and start translating.
Or am I wrong here? The only difference I could currently image is if your language has different preferences for the plural ("Plural-Forms: nplurals=2; plural=(n != 1);\n"), in which case I can of course create another template file.
For anyone interested in creating the file yourself, this is the commandline I used:
Code: Select all
cd po/
msginit --no-wrap --width=1 --no-translator -l itYou do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

From Npaul translation process
I just want to say that I'm still working on the traslation, it's slow because I'm doing it at work since I don't hace a PC for myself.
Also I'm taking my exams (I work and study)
Is there a delivery date for the translation?

"to prepare for disaster is to invite it, to not prepare for disaster is a fools choice" -me (kim-lav_coyote25-metcalfe) - it used to be attributed to unknown - but adding the last bit , it now makes sense.

OS?
If you built from source, did you move the .exe to the data directory, or did you use make install or what?
Many details are missing...
and it ends here.

Yeah, uninstall all old versions, then install the new Beta 2.Chatterer wrote: Well i want to play the beta i dont even care about the old game. so should i do for a complete reinstall from scratch? I have windows xp and i know i have enough RAM and everything.

Re: Game ends suddenly
Well I tried that but I uninstalled everything and downloaded the beta. and it still crashes. so i uninstalled the beta and put the old one back on but it works fine. so i tried leaving the old one and doing the beta over it and the beta crashed same way everytime. so i just put the old one back on and i dont understand why the beta keeps crashing like it is.Buginator wrote: Yeah, uninstall all old versions, then install the new Beta 2.
