Linux installing

Post by a human »

i was browsing the net for some programs for linux and came across this site.  i have tried installing this for linux as i heard was possible, however, after downloading many needing files i found that one particular file, libjpeg, was not working.  anything that can be done?

What error do you get? Full message please.
Which version of Warzone 2100 did you try and what version of libjpeg is making trouble?

i have wz 2.0.10, and libjpeg v6b.  my error message is simple, it can't find libjeg when it configures.

I wouldn't bother with 2.0.10.

Get the latest trunk or 2.1 branch.
and it ends here.

WarZone is in the PCLinuxOS repository.  Just install it from Synaptic and everything works as it should.

The question is what version is in the repo?
Some of the old ones had some pretty ugly bugs.

Ubuntu's repo has a *crappy*, (very) old version.
Debian will update to 2.1 I believe.
and it ends here.

PCLinuxOS has 2.0.10 in the repo.  It was just added not that long ago, a few weeks maybe.

How come?  You are using PCLinuxOS right?  Just install it from there...

There is roughly no difference between downloading all sources, compiler, etc. and downloading the binary packages...
