A weapon such as this would cause an enemy to be unable to move for several seconds. In addition, the unit might possibly have its weapon usage disabled for a few seconds.
However, a taser should deal a minimal amount of damage because there are plenty of things in Warzone 2100 that require electricity to operate.

Re: Tasers
its called "EMP turret" It does exactly what you talking about. Its "stuns" (disables) for a short time 0.5 sec I guess.

Re: Tasers
Unfortunately, cyborgs and Scavenger humans cannot use turrets and so these units should be able to use a taser instead.
Being incapacitated for about half of a second or precisely 50% of a second is very short.

Re: Tasers
try it in game and y will see it for yourself. AS I can remember - yes its completly disables - & cant units can't attack.

Re: Tasers
hint - taser will not work at all on metall-plated units. (like tanks, cyborgs. only naked people can be affected)
EMP projectiles are very expensive and complicated technology, probably you can make something small enough to use as a cyborg mortire, but it will not be powerfull enough to penetrate proper armor...

Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity. Research metals and you should know...anonim17465 wrote:hint - taser will not work at all on metall-plated units. (like tanks, cyborgs. only naked people can be affected)

Do you know what an insulator is?

Re: Tasers
I will explain how metall will protect a unit, richard.
Let's imagine a taser, sort of a gun that fire two needles with a thick-insulated wires.
Because we need two points to conduct an electricity (through one wire you can send some power with alternating current and using object as a capasitor, but capacitance will be extremely low, so you will need high frequency, that will work as an antenna eventually...).
Then, after being hit, unit will consume that electricity charge(from 1 wire) or work as a conductor(with 2 wires).
with one wire effect will be the same as after you will rub a hair with a baloon, static electricity and no damage.
With metall hull all static charge will stay outside because ot detraction between same charges, inside will be no change.
with two wires you will work as a resistivity, like a heater. But thing is that resistance of wires will me much higher than a solid piece of metal, so wires will get heated. and you inside will feel nothing.
Taser works only against naked people, because their muscules are affected by electricity and because they have big resistivity. In case if you will put on a chainmail and somebody will try to hit you with a teaser, you will feel next to nothing. T-shirt with a silver thread in it will save you too. Even such thin things like tin-foil cap may greately decrease effect of a stunner, probably elemenating it at all. And it's just 0.02 millimeter of aluminium. and tank has more than 10 centemiters of armor, 5000 times better than no damage with a tin foil armor for a nearly naked person.
Even if your clothes are wet in salty water(but underwear is dry), than will decrease effect of stunner in couple of times.
With stunner you do not need just to insulate the charge, that's another way, yes. But in many cases it's much easier to work as a conductor, and let it go through and heat the wires.
