New Weapon: Fire Hose

Post by richard14110 »

A hose allows a unit to rescue a friend/building that is burning. Also, the weapon can be used to electrocute enemy units (water + electricity = fry).

A fire truck should have this as the default weapon. There should be spraying towers and bunkers.

Plus, a sprinkler causes all units within a certain range from it to be immune to flame. If a sprinkler is not powerful enough, then there is a fire hydrant which releases much more water than a sprinkler.

A cooling tower should also reduce the duration of the flame and the intensity of the fire damage for objects and units that are nearby it.

Even though this is kind of funny and would make room for some kind of anti-flame strategy, I have difficulties to believe that a sprinkler would be of help against horrible phosphoric burns and napalm flame throwers, or whatever they come up with in the year 2100. Maybe one could implement something like this as a fire-resistance or auto-repair technology.

Water will not fry anything because everything military is protected from rain or even from submerging for a short amount of time.
But it will help against fire by simple redusing temperature. in addition, you can use not just water, but some bubble-making agent(water foam) that will stop oxigen from coming in.

That will not really help against termite bombs, but will help against any kind of burning damage. (termite on it's own does not burn for a long, it contain much fewer energy than a petroleum that used in flamethrowers, it bunos is only in no-oxigen burn).
but thin, mucus-like layer will protect from it too.

Phosphoric bombs need oxigen too and in general they are similar to petroleum. (it's better aganst organic, but we are not using people with few defence on a battlefield, right?)

Plasma bombs don't need oxigen, but can be greately stopped by wet(especially mucus-like, thin layer) surface

Object that are wet with salty watert(especially mucus-like, thin layer) are better protected from EMI as well, in theory.

In general - I'm completely for it. That will stop flamethrower mania!

P.S. Just one problem. tanks that are protected from water usually have their air-inlets a bit more protected. Normal air inlets will be flooded with water and engine will stop. So, need some air-inlets upgrade with kind of anti-water filter.

P.P.S. And that should slightly decrease speed of tanks because of wet dirt under them and additional weight on them(for mucus-like thin layer).

I absolutely like this idea! yes, it's looks stupid, but think of it, if you can predict a fire-rush, why not to bring some fire hoses, that are completely waste of time for anything else? But that can make whole enemy's army of flamethrovers useless. (irl it never been used in mass attacks)

phospor will simply sink in water and will not burn at all.

petroleum(normal flamers) will float on top of water and will burn on it, foam can extinguish it.

thermit bombs can't be stopped from burning, but they are entirely AT weapon. it's too weak to do any damage to big structures and burns too fast to do any damage small, spreaded targets like cyborgs. it's too heavy and will fall through any kind of gel.

plasma bombs can be stopped by layer of gel (plasma is too weak and explode too fast, evapourating everything on its way, but density is low)

EMI weapon can be stopped by thick layer of salty gel.
