OpenGL1.2 + TED problem strikes again, now with nvidia card.

Post by saviliana »

CPU:Intel Core2 Quad Q9300
GPU: Nvidia GTS 250
Ram: 4GBs
Driver version:331.65, latest, double checked, reinstall it twice.
OS:Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit with SP1 and SP2 up to date.

Still don't get Warzone2100 start up. Still pop up a window sais OpenGL 1.2 not supported and close itself.
I kinda know that the hardward itself do support software using opengl 2.x/3.x (even on some older drivers), so why it just refuse to start the game?

Sounds a bit odd. Can you add '--debug=3d' to the command line options of warzone, run it, then attach the resulting stdout.txt log file here? See http://developer.wz2100.net/wiki/FileLocations for where to find it.

You didn't install video drivers. The above states that it is using Microsoft. That means, it didn't find any drivers except the MS default ones, which don't support openGL higher than 1.
.
You either got a laptop that has intel & nvidia, and you didn't update *both* video drivers, or you didn't install the correct nvidia graphics drivers.

I triple checked it,my rig is a desktop, don't have second display chipset, driver and directx9.x/10.x is fully up-to-date, and it just run other open GL/CL games just fine.
(For example:Darkout is a opengl only game, and it use open gl 2.x codex, it runs perfect, same story on Planet Explorers, it is open GL 3.x and open CL required.).
So I would guess it is either a detection error or something weird happens on the latest display drivers I update.

We don't do anything special, just the normal query to the openGL driver, and, in this case, it still says you are unaccelerated. (no openGL driver found as far as Windows is telling us) and I never heard of those games that you mentioned, so, I can't tell what they do differently.

We haven't changed anything that would detect openGL differently since the time this game was converted to use openGL, and that is going on 8+ years now, we are using the same calls.
At this point, I am thinking something is screwy with your system is going on.
Check your event log for any errors/warnings, and get this program http://www.ozone3d.net/gpu_caps_viewer/ it will tell you what it finds, and you can post a screen shot of the openGL tab, and we can go from there.

Also, did you get the game from the Sourceforge website ?

Don't use the Microsoft video driver. Get the manufacturer's driver for your card.

I have already re-install three times of nvidia driver, form nvidia website, driver CD and through Nvidia Geforce Experience program. It just can't be detected by the game.

on quick google this seems to be random known issue, although i couldn't find any solved one. some way around is using NVAPI but library itself ~2gb while we only need GPU detection which hopefully does not fail to detect these stuff.

could you show me your device manager -> display adapter. you can access if from WIN + pause/break -> device manager. i just want to make sure that there is no microsoft driver there

NVAPI would not help. I suspect Warzone is being put into some kind of compatibility mode, and therefore being linked with the Microsoft GL driver instead of the Nvidia one. I have no idea why that might happen, or how to fix it, though.

Update: I removed the logmein mirror driver and it still not going anywhere, so it wasn't that causing the problem.

I'm thinking, would there a commandline can force the game run itself no matter how the openGL detection tells it yes or no? Maybe it could just runs fine like the other OpenGL games I mention before....

If Warzone can't detect the proper OpenGL that means it somehow is hidden from it, so it can't use it. Make sure it is not run in some compatibility mode.
