Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
yeah i feel the same way, once u want to apply specific things like rust to an whole object u need a series of photos, so u dont have to start color correcting different rust pictures, which was the route i went and it took me probably longer then to just find a suitable piece of scrap metal
- should go out more i guess

Yeah, it looks totally brutal. Well done.
Maybe reduce the shininess on the weapon barrels? I don't usually associate chrome looks with the post-apocalyptic theme

VERY nice! I agree @ the above concerning the shiny-ness -- although to be fair the barrels would be freshly manufactured and therefore not display any tarnish.
Well done, Jorzi.

Amazingly!
But stupid question
I can see it live? Or builds of the game with models until the secret?
But stupid question

Military stuff is seldom shiny.although to be fair the barrels would be freshly manufactured and therefore not display any tarnish.
And yes, it is a cool model!

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
My justification of shiny barrels is this:
The twin assault cannon represents the ultimate development of conventional cannons, this means it probably uses very high quality barrel steel, like chrome-molybdenum, which is quite shiny since it's stainless. Also painting it for camouflage may not be very useful, since all the tanks use various sensors anyway and this thing, by it's nature, isn't very hideable.
I'll try to get this committed to our svn repo, but I'm currently having problems with the changed passwords.
I also restarted my work on the oil derrick. I first aimed for a more realistic mechanism, but creating new .ani files would have been pretty painful, so I thought I'd reuse the animation of the original, while simply adding a bit of detail, normal mapping and better texturing.
Current lowpoly is 264 tris, compared to 106 for the original.

I think Blender has an animation export that's pretty close to ours. I never got around to learning Blender's animation system, but if you happen to have a rigged model I could try to see if it is actually doable.Jorzi wrote:I also restarted my work on the oil derrick. Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Fantastic model! One thing that annoys me about the original model is the "farm fence" around the derick and the ground texture not covering the whole ground. I think that should be changed when doing new textures. Also one suggestion for the model: Maybe the polycount can be reduced at the "round" things holding the lever without losing to much quality. Not sure however, if it's worth it.
