Last weekend I've played the game on a Lan Party with my friends. Due to the 'fixed' maps with 'fixed' positions. Everybody knew where everything was located and where to go to start attacking the weaker players. To my oppinion it would be a great improvement to have random maps for the multiplayer mode.
That means:
- Random generated terrain with (Eg. 1,2 or 3 entry points to a 'base')
- Random placed oil spots within a range from the base. (Eg. 3 oil spots near the 'base' the rest randomly placed)
- Random placed positions of the players (Eg. they don't know who will be the nearest neighbour)
Also would be nice:
- Oil spots can run out of oil

Re: Random Maps
We have at least two map generators around, but they cannot be built into the game.
Making a built-in generator is possible though (the same way random seabed gets generated every time you start the game).

Re: Random Maps
Adding a random map generator would be a fantastic Add-on to the game. I always enjoyed that mode from the Age of Empires 2 game, but I think they used more of a type of seed system, but I don't know the significance of that.
