there is talk about starting private forums to discuss the future of warzone
THIS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN!
just because you don't agree with people on the forums does not mean you need a private forum to decide what is best with warzone!
it goes against what has been happening and is a slap in the face of everyone who wishes to comment on something before it is included in the game!
JUST DON'T DO IT!
Maybe have forums that require a user to have at least x amount of posts to enter? At least then they will have some experience and not clutter things up with posts made from ignorance...
Moving back instead of forward
Seems to me absurd

All major forums have private subforums, just because you don't see it doesn't mean they don't exist. Read-only subforums are also widely used; you may see http://forums.wesnoth.org/ as an effective example.

In most cases i observed, the user with most posts shouldn't be allowed to enter anywhere at all.

@Originway: As long as we have kids on this forum, there needs to be a place where we can discuss controversial subjects without having to read posts written in all caps.

That would encourage spamming to boost post counts.

An open discussion with the player base should come first followed by the private discussion about what will actually change or go into a new release.
that is the problem they want to decide everything then when it is put into the game it is too late to do anything

My impression (at least concerning balancing) is that we don't want to decide anything. The problem with open balance discussion though is that it never reaches any conclusion because threads get derailed with flaming about who knows about balance and other things that are irrelevant to the constructive part of the discussion, and so nothing ever gets done while people keep complaining about the balance that needs changing, thereby filling up those threads even more.
We want information... information... information.

With all respect, no one is forcing you to read posts written in all caps. The answer is simply to not read them.
I feel that open and transparent discussion should not be left by the wayside, but to require consensus will inevitably cause deadlock from time to time. In my opinion the answer lies with more stringent requirements on proposing balance changes, enforced by strict moderation of the balance sub-forum. A sticky clearly stating that the final decision lies with the devs could be beneficial as well.

…
BY THE TIME YOU SEE THE CAPS, YOU HAVE ALREADY READ THIS POST!
The bothersome thing is that as soon as any dev starts speculating about any radical changes, there is always someone who decides to start a rampant "STOP THE DEVS BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE, WE CANNOT ENTRUST THEM WITH THIS PROJECT" campaign, as if:
a)the developers who have spent several years keeping this project alive in their spare time would suddenly turn into trolls/griefers
b)it would be for them to decide who should lead this project
My opinion is this: there should exist an area that requires a bit more commitment than filling in a captcha.
I'm not concerned about private forums, I trust the devs will do a good job -- all I request is that SP gameplay is kept in mind during decision making, as SP is currently the biggest audience for WZ.
