oil depot

Post by guiro »

The oil is extract and stored and then when you buy something the oil is burned and turned into power but where the oil is stored

proposal
early in the game, the oil can be stored in the command center but if you want to store more oil should build a depot.
may have different sizes
the command center can store 5.000
the small 2.000
the medium 5.000
the large 10.000
also should not cost a lot and have medium strength

I think it would be better if there were oil depots on the map that you could capture to take their oil. Sort of super-sized oil barrels.

It is hardly ever a good idea to store energy. It is possible to implement this via mods, but it doesn't ever make sense for a player to build anything like that (instead of producing units etc.), unless some explicit benefits are given for storing energy, like NRS-style interest rate.

It would make more sense for an oil depot to increase a max unit cap. Like supply depots work in Starcraft (for terran).

The in-game rationale could be that more units require more oil reserves, since power does not magically transmit directly to units, they have to refuel occasionally (the game just never shows them doing that).

+1 We already had that talk. Keeping your power is a bad idea, no reason to make the players pay for that.
