A New Behavior of Building Oil Derricks
Started playing WZ 3.1.0 (first time playing WZ since my long unwanted hiatus) and I noticed that you can no longer build an oil derrick partially and leave it at that, is this a bug, a new "feature" or just something I haven't noticed/forgotten about since the last I played??
( Also, thanks to the new layout I'm [still] not sure if this was an appropriate place to post said topic haha)

That is relative, for some this is bugfix.
I don't remember which exactly solution was implemented but I remember that it was not the optimal one (at least from my point of view ).

Haha indeed and I agree but what's done is done.
AFAIK; it was the decaying of the oil derrick without the burning but I'd have to play WZ again and watch for it. As far as the documentation that I'm writing for my strategy guide it means that the new behavior completely kills an entire facet of possible strategies that a player could enact.

Basically a free building will decay if construction finishes before it is complete, and once decay reaches 0, it explodes.

Free as in "I'll just move my truck somewhere else before I finish constructing and do something else"?
I just played and found that oil derricks decay but other buildings don't. Either I didn't wait long enough or I'm missing something here. I think I'm missing something here.

Oil derrick in 3.1 costs $0 to build.
Thus, if your truck leaves or gets destroyed before construction is complete, it will decay. It prevents players from part-building derricks to prevent opponent from claiming them.

So in master (which I can't run currently as it's no longer compat with Mac OS X 10.5.x) what happens if you part build a derrick and then leave?

So the problem is back then, you can part build derricks to prevent other player from getting them = grim.
