After reading some discussions, I have realized that it is hard to find free space in the settings screen, so I took the liberty to play around with the interface.
The first idea was to use the "empty space" to the right, to begin with, put the map/users on its own "tab", which had given LOOTS of free space, but it didn't go that way...
Instead I added a thumbnail map. (Did unfortunately not know how big they thumbnails are sins the website for downloading maps are down)
By adding a thumbnail map and be abel to click on it to preview the map, the "Map Preview" iconen (the eye) disappear. The thumbnail will have the same function. (The eye is still on the example picture to fill out and show that you can have information button on the side of the map, next to the thumbnail.)
Have also added information about "Structure Limit" next to the map. The number indicates the number of that buildings that is ok to build. The icon changes to crossed over if the number is 0 (zero).
A discussion thread (viewtopic.php?f=30&t=10410) took up the discussion of random oil drum. I added the icon to show that there is now room for another "option". Just this perhaps should have 2 button icons, if you're going to have randomly oil drum, then how frequent and perhaps the quantity of them. But the discussion is in another thread!
Instead of taking place with the names, I suggest that it is enough with the function of text that pops up when the mouse pointer is above an icon. That provides additional space. Even now, when I tried to reduce the text it takes space. the Icons itself is informative, and you can still get explanatory text when you roll over them so it should be enough I think ?
By simply use one icon / option instance. in "scavenger" case one time when one clicks its active, next click inactive. this makes even more space. Similarly, the "Base", where iconen switches between three modes. Again: It is important that when you hold your cursor over the icon it display the text that is, OR display a long text with all the options.
Had the text reduced under "settings" I could get the "Tech Level" in there to. (Seems that it is only used two levels when I read about the "Tech Level" ?)
This is a draft. Much information in a small space, so probably I will be eager to use the space to the right and maybe have some type of "Tab" function (Is the possible?)...
(Sorry for any bad english. Its a loot of text so google translate had to do most of the translation. In the event of ambiguities, I will answer more clearly, or edit in any remarks...)

Over 100 ppl have looked at it but not a single comment. Say something, PLEASE!
Say something like :
"Wtf is this!!" or "love it" or "It have some smart ideas but need more work"...
Maybe the first Q that has to be asked is "Is it possible to implement" (if not we close the thread) ?

I think pretty much everyone will agree that the UI needs an overhaul, but until we get the ability to script it (ie. GUI stuff exposed to JS API) there's not much that can be done. The current GUI code is somewhat grim and difficult to work with.
