Vtols or Hovers, or Half tracks or Tracks OFF?

Hello Gentlemen :)

As some of the maps has particular environment, for example islands, or wals dividing players, or any obstacles favouring a particular type of movement suspension, or shall I say body.

Wouldn't it to be good to allow players turn off any of movement bodies available before game? Of course for example wheels would be obligatory, and maybe one other type of movement body?

I realise it may cause extraordinary consequences to the game, at least to some extent.

If it was proposed before, sorry but I did not know.

I wonder what you think about it, or maybe I make some elementary error here, like "please eliminate scavs" ;)

If the "ship" idea, that been suggested here before, comes true, this idea about turning ex. hover OFF can be very fun. On a map with islands, to not have hovers, and be able to transport track-tanks with ship can be a really fun, and give a new strategy dimension into the game.

(As more of the "invention" you can choose to not have on start a server, the better game.)

Is it necessary ? It would be pretty hard to design an interesting map that make sens when hover (let's say) are both on and off.

If you design a map meant to be without hover, it's not hard. Just draw a cliff between the land and water...

Vtols can already be turned off.

And ht and track CANT be turned of. It would cascade the strategies up to mg viper wheel rush vs mg viper wheel rush only.


This is already possible in mods, all you need it's a fully functional mod support. Or try it in a map-mod.

Iluvalar is right in that this can already be done in map mods, simply provide a custom rules.js that, for example, prevents research of half-tracks; or a custom tech tree that has h-t removed.

Ok, so now I understand.

Of course we can divide map by cliffs, or anything, but then there is this effect of units next to it, those who were created for other purpose or accidentally. Those gather next to the border.

I have never used mods because of two things. First is that I like creating maps and maps only, and secondly I have no idea of how to work with mods.

To sum up I more less understand what would the idea do :3
