"THE" Bomb

Post by RedShocktrooper »

Because not every nuke leftover after the collapse is in its silo.

Basically, it requires all forms of bomb related research before it, and considerably weighs down the unit it's on. For when it becomes abundantly clear that the game has stalemated... perhaps it's time to use a VTOL equipped with an A-Bomb?

Other forms would be Atomic Howitzers and Atomic Missiles, and all forms would have an amazingly long reload time - even factoring in reload upgrades, Atomic Howitzers (the fastest-firing Atomic weapon) still only put out a single shot per two minutes, and are so prohibitively expensive you could build several Dragons for the cost of a single Atomic Howitzer on a Tracked Python.

Essentially, it's the Ultimate End-Game weapon, though by the time you get to it, there is a chance you might not have the ability to use it.

Imo, don't see much point for that, we already have archangel missels that can level most of base into the ground and can shoot almost wholemapways, and i barely even get to them in an usual game :hmm: .
Though to think about idea, special endgame building that can summon local nuclear strikes from the orbit would be awesome  , and would go well with storyline we already have :P .

IMHO a nuke would be perfect for custom campaign missions. Eg. When Alpha or Beta base gets destroyed, it would be nice to actually have in-game cinematic of the explosion.

Can the blast create a big crater on the map ?

And an other thing:
If there are such thing as nukes, should it not also exist bomb shelter, so u can "get away" from the bomb ?

Creating a crater in terms of lowering the land might be possible, but setting the land textures would likely be more difficult -- that would probably require an artists' touch.

The other issue with actual craters is that they would alter the map's path finding, the land might already be at the lowest level, etc.

I just recall those nuclear missles from Red Alert. Those long cars with white missles with red ending :) I also remember that it was hart to use, because when it shot nearby nuclear bomb destroyed you too :P once I have lost half of my epic base..

anyway this final shot, a final building as it was said ;) sounds nice. But it would have to be done very nicely. Maybe some tileset prmanent changing, good looking strike itself. Maybe some waves, or sky colour change. It also could be set of how big the bomb shall be. For example with bars from green into red. Where red destroyes almost entire map, so one should wath out not to kill himself too. A well performed radius of the blast should be there. Mabye few sec indicated for all players sequence of the nuclear warhead being shot from the silo, so all could know what ended the game when they were sipping coffe ;) I mean a movie, sequence? of a sort, and then normal game view again.

Then.. maybe an extremely expensive nuclear bunker, like a fortress we already have. Where you could place 10 units of any kind, or more? so a player could still survive the blast and try to rebuilt, like from Vtols Scorpion Plasmate 135 attack ;)

Also lets say 10 seconds worning, or maybe twenty? after the sequence of a rocket being shot. With our beloved, (mine) voicie of the computer saying something like "Worning nuclear attack detected in 20", then in 10, and finally "Worning nuclear attack imminent. Then blast :)

Of course silo, warhead, bunker, should be extremely expensive again. Also I can already see nuclear spammers.. but if arranged correctly. Turn on, off option would be advisable too.

Damn I need to make a map :) two weeks break makes me passionate 8)
