*World of Tanks* Free MMO - An Addicting Blast. :-D

Let's just cut to the chase. You love fighting with tanks, then you won't regret getting into this one. :3 On the contrary, be forewarned; if you're concerned about taking on an other game addiction, then DONOT check this game out. ;)

Everything is top notch: beautiful, immersive, game world visuals...the tank models, physics, GPMs, controls, UI.... Super fun and many game design lessons to be learned and put to use. :hmm:

~ Lots of Machinima on YouTube.... just punch-in "World of Tanks".

I have played a lot. If you like tank warfare, this is it. :) It's addicting, for sure. Taking a break now to focus on making CGI FMV shorts.

Forever is a long time but because of the business model chosen by the developers as long as they stay in business there will always be a free play component. They've been around now for a couple years and hold the Guinness World Record in the category of Most Players Online Simultaneously on one MMO Server.

Here's how Wikipedia explains the business model:
......released under "Play 4 Free" model, which will see the game released for free with revenue generated from micropayments in the form of in game currency, which can then be used to convert free experience gained on acquiring Elite Status in a vehicle.

........ It is built upon a freemium business model where participants have the option of paying a small fee to advance at an accelerated rate.

Your welcome. :)

Please don't be offended or take it personal, but no can do. Only my buds of many years know my various nicks out yonder in all the very different cyber spaces I get involved in. Just another one of my quirks. ;) However if you join up in the fun and sometime come upon a command of rather puny armor trying to harrass some bad boys, it could be me. :P

Yes it is. :) In closed Beta now. It is the second in Victor Kislyi's Trilogy of games. The third being called World of Battleships. Victor did a facinating interview a couple months ago where he shares his vision and grand developer strategy for the Trilogy. He also gives some statistics and a behind the scenes peek into the developer side of all of this that is worth the price of admission here:

http://theverge.com/gaming/2012/6/17/30 ... s-to-world

While the genres are entirely different, in my mind there are still correlations to WZ; applicable experential design insights, if you will. And I'm not talking about comparative graphics here.

The above article is a quick read. Worth the few minutes invested, IMHO. :3
