1st post!
Anyway, i created a new map, which is a 4-player map with enough oil to create some really major fighting. It has rotational symmetry (4*the same thing). The idea behind the map is that, while there is still a lot of oil in the base and quite a bit close to the base, there is just LOADS as you approach the centre. If you were in control of all the oil on your quarter, you'd need 9-10 generators (didn't count exactly). It also is a very large map (220x220) with 4 levels.
Some gameplay recommendations: set oil level to low, so that while there's still an abnormally high amount of it, it's not off the charts. Also, don't forget that the oil resources are expendable: while in the long-run you need to control more of the resources to win, doesn't mean that you should cry about losing 8 of them cause of an attack. You probably have another 15-20! Finally, VTOL's are the best way of getting anywhere, due to the map's size. However it is not interesting to allow them too early, so T1 or T2 preferable. (have a look at where the oil is and how much there is on a skirmish with deity cheat before you play this seriously)

thanks for the comments guys, if i feel like it i'll make more variants of this map (similar maps) with different features. One thing i noticed is that (like expected really) the AI doesn't play it too well so i may do another slightly more normal version (less oil) of this exact map. If i get a couple more good comments like this, i may make a many-oil series!!

Here's my next map: cramped!
The map is only 60x60, making for quick encounters. You start with only two trucks and a command center. All the bases are on the same level and adjacent bases connected in a straight line. Oils are as follows: 7 in base, 13 on your quarter, and another 56 that are contested. Given the size of the map, that's a HUGE oil density.
tactical tips: the rising in the center of the map (top level), contains 8 oils and 4 entrances only two tiles wide. If someone takes control of this area and defends the entrances, it provides an excellent shelling spot (that can cover the whole map), as does the level below (but not as much). Due to the amount of exposure between the players (it is really quick to attack someone, or provide help to a neighbour), some defenses are recommended to buy time if needed. Rushes are a particularly nasty technique on this map, and counter-measures should be taken early on.
This is a release candidate, so if i don't hear any negative feedback over the next two weeks the final version will be identical.
