Wikizone 2100 needs you!

Even though aubergine's Warzone 2100 wiki is up and running again, I'm still wanting to continue development on Wikizone 2100 for a few reasons:

- Easier to find what you're looking for thanks to Wikia's various features, such as the ability to search for topics that fall within a given category.
- More freedom in terms of editing.
- Possibly more flexible means of documenting stats of various components and research items, as seen in such wikis as the StarCraft Wiki, the Supreme Commander Wiki, or the Command & Conquer Wiki.
- The security that comes from having an alternative to fall back on in case things go poorly elsewhere.

All of this could ultimately provide potentially more in-depth and better organized documentation of all sorts of Warzone 2100 stuff, from stats on various weapons, structures, etc., to articles on various factions and backstory, to in-depth articles on how to mod Warzone 2100, than what is found on the Warzone 2100 site's main wiki. Although, I wouldn't mind to see the old Warzone 2100 wiki refurbished to a more user-friendly form as well, if people are willing to put in the extra time and effort.

However, as Wikizone 2100 was only recently started, I'd like some help in sprucing up the place. I'm willing to promote some people to admin or bureaucrat status to help maintain and improve upon Wikizone 2100 (especially in the event that I'm no longer able to maintain it myself).

@aubergine: Yeah, I saw that wiki, though I didn't exactly like where they were going with it. Besides, I think that it's been inactive?

@Giani: Thanks. Right now, I'm looking to get detailed stat lists of each and every component (including some non-designable ones scratch that. I could always create redirects towards unit templates that use them), structure, research item, and unit template (including Scavenger templates). Right now, the only detailed stat list that I have up is the Machinegun, though I'm thinking about wanting to switch to using something similar to those unit boxes that you'd see on, say, the StarCraft Wiki.

@iap: Maybe, though that depends upon what kind of paths the wiki developers wish to take. For example, I'd personally like to add a bit more information regarding component, structure, and/or unit template stats.

Was created in 2004 sometime before source liberation. It got zero support from the community and was basically all done by one person who worked on it for 6 months till he got tired. As far as I know it's been inactive for over 7 years. The irony is that after 8 years it still stands while most of the pre-lib communities are gone.

One thing for sure - Wikia ain't going anywhere and whatever is done there is not gonna disappear from one day to the next. The infrastructure is robust and will endure as long as Wikipedia.

@Giani: I noticed that you added some information from some mods, though we only need official Warzone 2100 stuff right now, so stuff from, say, the Ultimate Scavengers Mod or Contingency is currently out of the question, at least for now. We'll add mod stuff later on in the future, under one or more different categories, though feel free to write up some articles on specific mods themselves if you'd like (and place those under Category:Mods).

Edit: Got a Machinegunner Cyborg and a Plasma Cannon stat list up for reference. I still wish I could use custom infoboxes, though sadly, they seem beyond my ability to comprehend how they work. (I may not be new to Wikia, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I know how to add/create new templates, including infoboxes. )

Thanks for the help, but the red links are empty categories. The pages are like a blue box inside the categories.

@Giani: Even for a newbie to Wikia, I'd say that that was some nice work.

By the way, have you ever noticed that tab on the top-right of pages that says "Contribute" on it? If you click on it, you'll see one of those expanding menus. Within that menu, you should see a link titled "Add a page". Click on that, and you should be able to create a new page without (as Iluvalar said) having to create a red link on an existing page.

Also, if you'd like to remove a category, you'll need to edit the page itself. To the right of the editing screen, you should see this box that contains all the various categories for the page. You can add or remove categories there.

@Iluvalar: Giani and I have recently added a handful of pages in Wikizone 2100 that deal with mods, such as the Ultimate Scavengers Mod, the Enhanced SitRep Mod, Contingency, and aubergine's Skyzone mods to name a few. I'm thinking about also including a handful of more classical mods, such as NEXUS Total War and Black Project's Nostalgia Mod. Would you mind if I included your NRS mod in there as well? You're welcome to contribute as well.
