How to find map file associated with cam mission?
Hi - anyone know how I can work out what map file is associated with a campaign mission?

FlaME will open almost ALL the .gam files from base.wz . Usually you'll have to select the tileset, but you'll definetely know which one is correct.
So, unzip base.wz into another folder (I usually unzip it into a new folder on my Desktop), go into the wrf folder, then cam1, cam2, or cam3. They're all right there.

Yup - I can see the maps, but what I'm after is knowing which map is used for which mission, or more specifically, in which file does that get defined.
Initially I just want this info (mission --> map) for the wzpedia as I want to start adding annotated map satellite images to the info I put there.
But, as I learn more about cam structure I want to start documenting how the cams are constructed from a modder perspective.

.
Only 3 maps are used for all the campaign missions with maps being partitioned / bounded through the use of scroll limits in the editor as well the data sets (Campaign Data Sets to work with / Arizona = 1, Urban = 2, Mountain = 3) with all this defined in the .gam file. That's how I remember it. There's much more to the structure which Goth is better able to speak to.

There's a few more maps than that due to the away-missions
madinca88 recently provided me with satellite images of all the major maps in the campaign and a few others, they are in the gallery here: https://warzone.atlassian.net/wiki/disp ... llite+Maps
Here's an example of an annotated map for one of the locations in cam2: https://warzone.atlassian.net/wiki/disp ... nment+Camp

Ahh, yes the aways.... stand corrected. Don't recall how many of those there where? Would you need more than 3 with partitioning, I wonder?aubergine wrote:There's a few more maps than that due to the away-missions

data/base/gamedesc.lev, and maybe the referenced wrf files.aubergine wrote:Yup - I can see the maps, but what I'm after is knowing which map is used for which mission, or more specifically, in which file does that get defined.

gamedesc.lev is what you're looking for. The only problem is the mission names are not very human friendly
In general, if you see glowing, pulsating things in the game, you should click on them.

Yup, I'm going to make a list of which mission id relates to which mission name and map so hopefully cross-referencing them in future will be a little easier.
